No Man’s Sky: Stunning Raft House Vanishes Due to Ocean Planet Bug

Summary

  • Oceanic planets in No Man’s Sky have new features and resources found in purple-class star systems.
  • Base building on water surfaces in No Man’s Sky may result in builds disappearing due to a bug.
  • One player’s stunning raft house on a water planet disappeared partially due to this issue.

A passionate builder within the No Man’s Sky community has unveiled a stunning raft house design for one of the newly introduced oceanic worlds in the game. Regrettably, this magnificent structure fell prey to a known problem affecting constructions on such watery planets. Many players have been keen to replicate comparable builds on these aquatic realms; however, it’s essential to note that this bug might cause your work to vanish if you decide to build something similar on the surface of these oceans.

In the newest free update for No Man’s Sky, called Worlds Part 2, one of the innovative elements introduced is ocean planets. Players have longed for these types of environments within the game for years. They boast deep oceans that span kilometers, diverse aquatic life forms, precious resources hidden in their depths, and more. To discover these unique planets, players must finish the main storyline and some side missions first. These celestial bodies can be found exclusively in newly-introduced purple-class star systems.

This week’s highlighted construction project is a wooden raft house design, crafted by the player named WrastlingIsReal. Located on one of the deep aquatic planets in No Man’s Sky, this beautiful build appears to float on the serene water’s surface, thanks to resized gas cylinder props that mimic buoyant tanks. Unlike a typical large and industrial base, this cabin emphasizes warmth and coziness, filled with decorations and furnishings to give it a homely feel among the stars. The creator also added galactic coordinate glyphs in the screenshot, allowing others to enter these coordinates into any portal structure to visit the planet.

Why No Man’s Sky Fans Should Avoid Building on the Surfaces of Water Worlds for Now

In my gaming adventure with No Man’s Sky, I soon realized that a considerable portion of my base construction was mysteriously vanishing, thanks to a known glitch that affects structures built on the fresh deep ocean planets. It appears these novel worlds don’t really have deeper terrain but instead boast an unusually high water surface level, which contributes to larger and deeper oceans. On numerous oceanic planets, it seems the water surface level often aligns with the player build height limit. Consequently, bases in No Man’s Sky can sometimes experience bugs, causing them to disappear partially or entirely.

Unfortunately, a large portion of this raft house was destroyed, but some players think that bases facing similar problems might still technically persist within the game, they just aren’t visible. Developer Hello Games has been diligently addressing numerous bugs in recent patches for No Man’s Sky, and many enthusiasts are optimistic that lost bases may one day be restored with upcoming fixes and updates.
