The popular action RPG, No Rest for the Wicked, has just undergone its largest and most daring overhaul with the introduction of “The Breach.” This update impacts almost every aspect of the game, altering numerous locations, introducing fresh weapons, new adversaries, formidable bosses, innovative systems, and enhancements in performance and user-friendly features. You can experience this massive content release right now on Steam!
Before “The Breach” update, the game “No Rest for the Wicked”, which had been in development since its initial launch on Steam in April 2024, was consistently growing and improving. Developed by Moon Studios, a team renowned for their work on the “Ori” series, “No Rest for the Wicked” had already received acclaim for its visually stunning landscapes and combat that relied on stamina. Players were eagerly anticipating a significant update to expand the game world and enhance the overall experience. The “Breach” update for “No Rest for the Wicked”, hinted at during Moon Studio’s “Wicked Inside” showcase last month, was expected to deliver on that promise.
With this latest update, dubbed “The Breach,” more than 11,000 modifications have been incorporated into the game “No Rest for the Wicked.” Essentially, it has almost doubled in size. This update brings two vast new areas – Lowland Meadows and Marin Woods – filled with fresh enemy types like Rust Reavers and Timber Wights. Additionally, players will confront the dangerous Blight mechanic in these zones. Alongside the new territories, there are 17 new Story Scenes, featuring three cinematics, five hybrid cutscenes, nine game view cutscenes, as well as two new settlements: Marin Village and Hunter’s Vale. The Breach update becomes available after completing the Prologue and several initial campaign missions, including Sacrament and Servant of God in “No Rest for the Wicked.
In terms of gameplay enhancements, The Breach significantly broadens the combat options available in No Rest for the Wicked, introducing novel weapon types like Gauntlets and Wands, bringing the overall weapon count to more than 150. A fresh endgame feature, known as the Plague System, infects zones with Pestilence, introducing high-stakes rewards, unique enemy types, and variation. For dedicated players, a challenging Hardcore Mode has been added, complete with permadeath. Enhancements to user experience encompass improved tooltips, streamlined fast travel via Whisper Stones, expanded inventory storage, and performance enhancements thanks to DLSS 4.0 support. New compositions by Gareth Coker have been added to No Rest for the Wicked’s soundtrack. The complete 2,416-word changelog can be found on the official No Rest for the Wicked forum.
The upcoming expansion, The Breach, solidifies Moon Studios’ No Rest for the Wicked as their most ambitious project yet. Not only does it introduce a massive amount of new content to the game, but it also lays the groundwork for future updates and potentially even a multiplayer mode. However, an official release date for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S versions alongside the PC version remains undisclosed.
