Minecraft players can now try out the updated animal designs, though they’re still being refined. While some improvements are still planned, all the animal models look better overall. A particularly noticeable change is the Baby Chicken, which finally looks like a small, fluffy chick. The developers focused on making baby animals resemble their real-life counterparts, rather than simply smaller versions of the adults. This not only makes the animals more realistic, but also much cuter! Animals are already a popular part of Minecraft, and these changes will make seeing their babies even more enjoyable.

I love how the developers really went the extra mile with the game’s animals! They actually recorded real kitten, puppy, and piglet sounds to make them feel way more realistic when you’re playing. It makes a huge difference!
As Great as Minecraft’s Baby Animal Mob Changes Look, Some Still Need a Bit of Work
The Kitten and Baby Ocelot designs are probably the least impressive. While they’re still cute, they don’t stand out as much as the others. The single-pixel eyes, which were meant to be adorable, actually make their faces look strangely empty and without expression. The idea was that this eye change would improve all the cat designs in Minecraft, but I’m not convinced it worked. Perhaps it would have been better to leave the cat eyes as they were for now.

Even with these adjustments, the cat design could become even more appealing, as further refinements are still possible before the final release or in future updates. Leaving the Kitten or Baby Ocelot as they are might help differentiate them and allow players to compare the designs side-by-side in the game, providing valuable feedback on which looks best.
Baby Animal Mob Changes Are Just the Tip of Minecraft’s 2026 Iceberg
Over the past year, Minecraft has received several excellent updates. Last year’s “Mounts of Mayhem” was a hit, and the recent changes to baby animals offer a glimpse of even bigger things coming to the game in 2026. Mojang’s strategy of releasing smaller, more frequent updates has been very effective at keeping Minecraft fresh and engaging, resembling a live-service model. While these updates might be smaller in scope, the ongoing improvements to baby mobs show that even smaller changes can significantly improve the game.
