Not All Subscribers Will Be Hit By Xbox Game Pass Price Increase

Microsoft recently announced a 50% price increase for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on October 1st. However, just days later, reports are surfacing that the price hike won’t affect all members.

Xbox Game Pass is raising its price from €18 to €27, but only for new subscribers and those who haven’t set up automatic renewal. Current members with auto-renewal enabled will not be affected.

You might have seen news about Xbox Game Pass prices going up. This change will only affect new subscriptions, not current ones – as long as your subscription automatically renews, your price will stay the same.

If you cancel your current plan and sign up again, you’ll be charged the latest price. We’ll always let you know at least 60 days before any changes to your account, and you can cancel or switch your plan whenever you like.

Since the emails were sent, many people have gone to Reddit to say they received the same one.

I’m a PC Game Pass subscriber in Germany, and it’s been a bit of a weird situation with the price changes. I signed up when it was just €9.99 a month, and even after they raised the price to €11.99, I was still being charged the original amount. Then I got an email saying I’d be kept at €9.99 instead of the newest price of €14.99 – which is great, but also a little confusing!

Microsoft hasn’t publicly addressed this issue yet. TopMob has contacted Microsoft to ask about pricing for customers who automatically renew their subscriptions and which areas are affected. We’ll update this article if we receive a response.
