Summary
- Graphics cards now used for video editing, AI, and more, not just visual enhancement.
- Nvidia has a market cap of $3.33 trillion, CEO considers them a small company.
- Huang states Nvidia will only do what others haven’t done, focused on unique contributions.
In recent times, the primary function of graphics cards has evolved significantly from enhancing PC visuals and pushing hardware limits. Today, these components, often referred to as video cards, find applications in various fields such as video editing, graphic design, Artificial Intelligence, cryptocurrency mining, and numerous other areas.
A significant beneficiary in this context is technology powerhouse Nvidia, which currently boasts a market capitalization of approximately $3.33 trillion – marking a rise of more than 170% compared to the preceding year.
Despite such an incredibly large figure, the CEO, Jensen Huang, considers their company as relatively small.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Says There Are No Acquisitions Planned
Huang received accolades for the exceptional performance of the company over the past year, maintaining a two-year lead in the industry. Moreover, the company has been instrumental in setting a new standard for computing. However, during an interview with the media, when questioned about Nvidia venturing into power generation and related sectors, Huang offered a more cautious response.
According to Huang, Nvidia follows the principle of undertaking tasks that no one else has attempted or tasks they can execute significantly better. This high benchmark for starting new projects is due to this philosophy. Therefore, Nvidia doesn’t view itself as an established, old company. Instead, it sees itself as a necessary player in projects like NVL72 and switches similar to Spectrum X, since no one else seems capable of taking them on. Huang further explains that despite having over 32,000 employees, they remain a relatively small company, requiring their resources to be concentrated on areas where they can make a distinctive impact.
It seems Huang might be correct about employee numbers, considering 3200 is relatively small compared to tech heavyweights like Google and Apple. However, when it comes to company valuation, they certainly rank among the very highest globally.
Additional boost to its value comes from the latest unveiling of Nvidia’s video cards, with the RTX 5090 standing out as the top-tier model. For more information on it, check out the details that leaked earlier this month in a packaging leak.
