Okay, so there’s a rumor going around that Nvidia might re-release the RTX 3060, and honestly, that’s awesome news for us PC gamers! Everything’s been so expensive lately – graphics cards, SSDs, you name it. It’s getting harder and harder to build or upgrade a rig because RAM is getting pricey and hard to find. If this leak is true, Nvidia could really help us out by giving us a more affordable option, which is something a lot of us desperately need right now.
Recently, it’s been tough for gamers to find and afford the latest computer hardware. A global shortage of RAM caused prices to jump, and some stores were selling RTX 5090 graphics cards for $3,000 or more, with prices expected to keep rising. Nvidia hasn’t officially addressed the situation, but rumors suggest they may have a solution that could be good news for those building PCs.
Leaker Claims Nvidia Will Re-Release the RTX 3060 in Early 2026
A reliable source, hongxing2020, recently suggested that Nvidia might bring back the RTX 3060 graphics card in the first quarter of 2026. Nvidia stopped production of the RTX 3060 in late 2024, about three years after its initial release. Despite being an older model, the RTX 3060 remains popular, especially because of its affordable price – around $330 – which is much lower than newer graphics cards. Releasing the 3060 again would make sense due to its cost and the fact that it uses an older type of memory that isn’t as impacted by the price increases seen with newer, AI-focused cards. However, this is just a rumor, and Nvidia hasn’t confirmed anything, nor did hongxing2020 provide any further information.
Image via Nvidia Even though hongxing2020 hasn’t provided many details, their claims are worth paying attention to because they’ve accurately leaked information before. For example, they correctly predicted the Nvidia RTX 5050 would launch in July 2025 and also foresaw delays for the 50 Super GPU series – a prediction that now seems likely, given Nvidia’s announcement that they won’t be revealing any new GPUs at CES 2026. Releasing a refreshed version of the 3060 could also help Nvidia keep sales strong and maintain a positive image, especially with rising RAM costs and rumors that they plan to reduce production of the 50-series to manage expenses.
Even if Nvidia brings back the 3060 graphics card, it won’t be completely unaffected by the current high cost of RAM, as it still needs memory. However, it uses the less expensive DDR6 RAM and requires significantly less memory than newer cards. The RTX 3060 8GB is currently the most popular graphics card, and its 8GB of memory is much less than the up to 32GB used by the latest 50-series cards. Even with a price increase from its original 2021 price, a re-released 3060 would still be cheaper to manufacture than newer 40- or 50-series cards due to its lower specifications.

Increasing costs for RAM are impacting companies like Nvidia, and reports suggest Samsung has doubled its prices for DDR5 memory as it prioritizes production for AI applications. By shifting focus to more affordable GPUs, Nvidia could also reduce its own costs during this period of rising expenses. However, it’s important to remember that the 3060’s return is currently just speculation, so gamers will have to wait for official confirmation.
