As a seasoned tech enthusiast who has seen my fair share of GPU launches and been burned by the hype cycle more times than I care to remember, I must admit that the latest leaks about the Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti have piqued my interest. The rumored specifications suggest a beefier, more powerful offering than its predecessor, which is always welcome news for gamers and professionals alike.
It’s been whispered for a while that the upcoming Nvidia RTX 50-series Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) might be unveiled at the start of next year, but details about them have been trickling out in leaks and rumors. The most recent leak seems to reveal some fresh insights into the specifications of the RTX 5070 Ti, such as its VRAM, power consumption, and other aspects. Interestingly, Nvidia hasn’t yet revealed how many GPUs they will introduce initially, as it’s common for ‘Ti’ models to follow later than non-suffix ones.
Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti: Expected Specifications
As reported by Wccftech, it appears that the forthcoming Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti graphics card may consume more power than initially anticipated, which is actually beneficial since it’s essentially a scaled-back version of the more potent and power-hungry RTX 5080. Unlike the RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080 cards that use different, less powerful chips, the RTX 5070 Ti is expected to be built on the same GB203 chip as the RTX 5080, but with some minor adjustments.
As a gaming enthusiast, I must admit that I was taken aback by the revised Total Board Power (TBP) of the RTX 5070 Ti. Initially, it was reported to be 300W, but it appears that the new TBP is actually 350W. This makes the RTX 5070 Ti a rather power-thirsty GPU. For context, the RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4070 Ti Super both have a TBP of 285W, while the RTX 4080 boasts a TBP of 320W. In terms of raw power consumption alone, the RTX 5070 Ti surpasses the RTX 4080. This could potentially translate to performance levels that are slightly superior, if not comparable, to the current top-tier offering from the previous generation.
Concerning the Video Random Access Memory (VRAM), the newly anticipated RTX 5070 Ti is rumored to include 16GB of GDDR7 with a 256-bit memory bus, offering a total bandwidth of 896 GB/s. This exceeds the initial VRAM capacity of its predecessor, the RTX 4070 Ti, which launched with 12GB. Notably, Nvidia boosted the VRAM for the RTX 4070 Ti Super to 16GB. It’s exciting to discover that the next-generation Ti model is starting off with a higher VRAM capacity from the beginning. This hints at the possibility of an upcoming RTX 5070 Ti Super, potentially boasting even more VRAM, perhaps 20GB GDDR7.
Previously, there had been whispers and leaks suggesting that the RTX 5070 Ti might boast an impressive 8960 CUDA cores, contrasting with the 7680 cores found in the RTX 4070 Ti. It’s worth mentioning that Nvidia ceased production of both the RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080 GPUs by early 2024.
Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti: Expected Launch
At present, it appears that Nvidia intends to debut all six of its RTX 50-series GPUs during the first half of 2025. Notably, the RTX 5070 Ti is speculated to be the third model in the series, following the RTX 5090 and the RTX 5080. As of now, it’s been made official that the RTX 5090 will make its debut at CES 2025, which kicks off on January 7. Interestingly, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has scheduled his CES 2025 keynote address a day earlier, on January 6 at 6:30 pm PT (9:30 pm ET).
