So, as a gamer, I’ve been noticing it’s getting harder and harder to find a decent graphics card. Apparently, the big AI boom is causing a shortage of the memory chips GPUs need. We’ve already heard whispers about NVIDIA potentially raising prices a lot in the next few years. But now, I’m reading that NVIDIA has a plan to tackle this shortage, which is good news for us gamers!
NVIDIA is Reportedly Re-Releasing GeForce RTX 3060 to Counter Ongoing Memory Shortages
According to a recent post on X (formerly Twitter) by hongxing2020, reported by Wccftech, NVIDIA may be bringing back the GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card. The post indicates a potential release in the first quarter of 2026, but provides no further details. It’s currently unclear whether NVIDIA will re-release both the 12GB and 8GB versions of the card, or just one of them, and pricing information has not been announced.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 came out in 2021 and is based on the Ampere architecture. It includes features like ray tracing, NVIDIA DLSS, and NVIDIA Reflex to enhance gaming. Two versions were available: one with 12GB of memory and a 192-bit interface, and another with 8GB and a 128-bit interface—both using GDDR6 memory. It originally cost $329, and gamers are hoping to see it available at that price again.
NVIDIA might have to make fewer RTX 50 series graphics cards this year due to a memory chip shortage. Also, a popular backpack from the game ARC Raiders briefly took down NVIDIA’s website last month.
