NYT Connections Hints Today (#866)—Clues and Answers for Friday, October 24

Happy Friday! I’ve got some hints and answers for today’s NYT Connections puzzle to help you finish strong and enjoy your weekend. This puzzle was a bit challenging, but I figured it out so I could share the solutions with you and help you solve it quickly.

It’s time for the weekend! Let’s get into the NYT Connections hints.

What is NYT Connections?

Before I share today’s hints for NYT Connections, I want to quickly provide some background information.

NYT Connections launched in June 2023 as the newest game from the New York Times. It quickly became popular, and for good reason! This free game is easy to access for anyone around the world, whether they’re using a computer or the mobile app.

NYT Connections is a great way to pass the time, whether you’re commuting or waiting for your coffee.

But how do you play NYT Connections?

It’s relatively simple, and that’s why it’s the best New York Times game, in my opinion.

Each day, the New York Times will give you a set of 16 words. Your challenge is to organize them into four groups of four, based on what they have in common. There’s only one correct solution to each puzzle, and sometimes the words can be misleading, making it a bit challenging to solve.

The words are also color-coded to show how challenging they are: yellow is the easiest, followed by blue, then green, and finally purple, which is the most difficult.

The key thing to remember is you only get four attempts each day. Use them all, and you won’t be able to solve today’s NYT Connections puzzle – you’ll be finished playing.

  • Yellow These words mark the peak of something — think career highs, golden eras, or when someone was “in their prime.”
  • GreenThese are all formatting options — the kind you’d find in a word processor or messaging app.
  • BlueThese are vibrant by nature — often used metaphorically to describe something dazzling or full of variety.
  • PurpleEach word ends with something you might wear or carry — but the full word itself isn’t necessarily about fashion.
