NZXT Capsule Review: Low-Cost, Crystal-Clear Microphone

After spending several weeks with the NZXT Capsule, I’ve gathered enough insights to write a comprehensive review about it. I initially bought this microphone from NZXT, having high hopes following my positive experience with the HyperX Quadcast which I had used for four years prior.

Initially, I had doubts about whether the low cost of the NZXT Capsule reflected its quality. However, after using it, I’m convinced that NZXT is undercharging for this exceptional piece of peripheral hardware.

Seriously Heavy Stuff

The NZXT Capsule is a USB microphone that can either sit upright on your desk or be mounted on a boom arm (which NZXT also offers for sale). This high-quality microphone retails for only $59.99, making it one of the most budget-friendly options available, with its price being significantly lower than the HyperX Quadcast S by approximately half.

As I unboxed the NZXT Capsule, I was immediately struck by its sleek and appealing design. The options of a solid white or black finish make it a perfect fit for any gaming setup. From the sturdy construction of the base unit to the robust, shock-absorbing desk stand, everything about it exudes quality. Included in the box is a neatly braided cable and a few adapters for added flexibility – even allowing for mounting it onto a boom arm if desired.

What really struck me was how substantial the microphone felt when coupled with its desk stand – it has a definite ‘high-end’ feel, given that it’s constructed from durable plastic and aluminum. Notably, on the front of the microphone, there are two knobs: one for adjusting the microphone’s volume and another for controlling the headset volume.

The second control on the device plays a significant role because it allows for the connection of a headset directly into the NZXT Capsule.

Featuring a swift detach mechanism, cardioid microphone design, and exceptional sound quality, the NZXT Capsule might just be the long-awaited challenger to the Quadcast’s throne. During my live broadcast, my audience commented that it delivers superior audio compared to the Quadcast, and its integrated noise-canceling technology effectively muffles background distractions.

The NZXT Capsule doesn’t have many noticeable flaws. Initially, I thought it might be overly large, but there’s a Mini version for those with space constraints. If you’re a streamer seeking a reliable microphone, I strongly endorse giving the NZXT Capsule a try.

You’d hardly believe it has been on the market since September 2021 – it’s brilliant.
