In the remastered version of Oblivion, you’ll find several groups to align with. One often overlooked team, based on Steam player accomplishments, is the Fighters Guild. The Fighters Guild in Oblivion offers an effortless method to accumulate wealth during the game’s early phases and is characterized as a straightforward guild adhering to good values, as portrayed by its lawful good code.
On the outside, the Fighters Guild appears to be the most ordinary of all guilds, living up to its simple name. However, Bethesda introduced an intriguing twist to the traditional Fighters Guild in both Oblivion and Skyrim. While the Companions in Skyrim offer a compelling storyline involving werewolves, complete with a 100% resistance to disease buff and a skill tree, the Fighters Guild in Oblivion culminates in a poignant moment that intertwines The Elder Scrolls’ lore with some of the darkest storytelling found within the entire series.
Preconceptions About Oblivion’s Fighters Guild
One reason why the Fighter’s Guild questline isn’t as well-liked by many players is that it doesn’t have all its quests from one central location like other questlines do. Instead, you have to travel extensively across Cyrodiil, making multiple trips rather than just returning to a single headquarters. On top of that, the journey can be confusing as it’s not always clear where to go next or what tasks need to be completed.
As a dedicated gamer immersed in the world of The Elder Scrolls, I’ve found that the Fighters Guild can be a bit tricky to navigate at first. Unlike other guilds, its story doesn’t exactly grab you right away; instead, it simmers slowly like a potion left on the fire. But if you stick with it, oh boy, do you get rewarded! The Fighters Guild offers a captivating narrative, rich lore, and quests that will send shivers down your spine. It’s not for the faint of heart, but the journey is worth every step.
Oblivion Players Discover the Fate of Water’s Edge
Throughout the Fighters Guild storyline, a player assists Biene Amelion, located in the quaint village of Water’s Edge, by completing a mission. Later on, during the mission called Infiltration within the Blackwood Company, the player, along with their new guild comrades, are given the objective to eliminate goblins that have been causing trouble for Water’s Edge.
In this rephrased version, here’s how the story unfolds: Initially, the protagonist from Kvatch consumes a mysterious potion. This action causes them to find themselves in Water’s Edge, a place teeming with goblins. After eliminating all the goblins, the player collapses once more and awakens in Modryn Oreyn’s house within Chorral. Upon revisiting Water’s Edge, a shocking revelation surfaces: the potion they drank was concocted from Hist Sap, which induced hallucinations, making them believe that goblins inhabited the village. Regrettably, this deception led to the slaughter of every resident in Water’s Edge.
One of the most unsettling missions in the game Oblivion is the Infiltration quest, and what makes it even more shocking is that it occurs within the Fighters Guild, a place where one would anticipate nothing but lawful good questlines with straightforward goals. However, the fact that this guild also contains a plotline involving the forced killing of innocents against the player’s wishes is heart-wrenching.
Cyrodiil is Home to a Hist Tree
One captivating feature of the Fighters Guild involves the existence of the Hist trees, some of the most enigmatic entities within the realm of The Elder Scrolls. These are intelligent trees, believed to be the oldest beings on Nirn, and highly revered by the Argonians. Their sap has been known to induce hallucinations, which the Argonians utilize during rituals. However, very little else is understood about the Hist, making them one of the most enigmatic groups within The Elder Scrolls universe. Encountering a Hist tree in Blackwood is quite uncommon, and it is only through the Fighters Guild that such an encounter can occur in Oblivion.
