October 2 is Going to Be a Big Day for World of Warcraft: Midnight

The alpha test for the upcoming World of Warcraft: Midnight expansion begins on October 2nd. Over the next five phases, players will get an early preview of the new zones, storylines, and features coming in Midnight.

At Gamescom, Blizzard announced *Midnight*, the next expansion for *World of Warcraft*’s Worldsoul Saga. Coming out in the first half of 2026, *Midnight* will send players to Quel’thalas to stop the villain Xal’atath. Players will explore updated versions of familiar locations like Eversong Woods, Silvermoon City, and Zul’Aman, as well as entirely new areas including Harandar and the Voidstorm.

While things might still be adjusted, the alpha test of *WoW: Midnight* will give players a good look at most of the main story, all the new dungeons and Delves, the Devourer Demon Hunter class, changes to existing classes, the Prey system, and the majority of things to do in the open world. Players will also get a chance to try out the Player Housing system before it officially launches later this year with Patch 11.1.7.

I’m so excited about the upcoming alpha test! From what I understand, Blizzard is keeping it pretty exclusive at first – mostly for friends, family, the press, and some lucky community members like us, hopefully! They said we should watch our emails and Battle.net accounts each week to see if we get an invite. It sounds like the alpha won’t last too long, wrapping up by the start of November to make room for the beta. Speaking of the beta, you can sign up for a chance to get in on the official *WoW* website, or if you *really* want to be sure, you can pre-order the *World of Warcraft: Midnight* Epic Edition – that guarantees you access! I’m already keeping my fingers crossed!

October 1st will be a big day for World of Warcraft fans! Game leaders Ion Hazzikostas and Chris Metzen will give a detailed preview of the upcoming *Midnight* expansion at 9 AM Pacific Time. Afterwards, Ion will be joined by Paul Kubit and Maria Hamilton for a live question-and-answer session. Viewers can expect a closer look at the new zones, story, and features, and might even get a peek at the collector’s edition or learn the official release date.
