The long-running manga series “One Piece,” renowned as the most popular of all time due to its massive sales, leaves many fans apprehensive about its conclusion. While they yearn to discover how it ends, they are equally reluctant for this cherished tale to come to a close. Yet, with each new story arc, the narrative seems to be nearing its finale, bringing ominous shadows over the main character, Monkey D. Luffy. However, Oda has already revealed Luffy’s ultimate fate in the series.

Luffy’s Fate At The End Of One Piece

Luffy Will Not Die

The “One Piece” manga is now embarking on its concluding storyline, which means that the approaching end of this long-running series is undeniably tough for fans to accept. It’s been nearly three decades since the manga first began, and it holds a special place in many hearts due to the fantastical world and beloved characters crafted by Eiichiro Oda. Despite reaching its final stages, there’s still plenty of story left to unfold within this epic saga.

A common concern among fans revolves around the final outcome for Monkey D. Luffy in the story of One Piece. Given his central role and Oda’s penchant for surprising readers, some speculate that Luffy might meet his end in the series finale. However, this theory won’t hold true, as Oda has already given hints about how One Piece will conclude, and such an ending wouldn’t be possible if Luffy were to die.

“I’m Going to Become King of the Pirates!” — Monkey D. Luffy

Previously, Oda expressed his fondness for drawing grand parties and intended to conclude the One Piece series with a massive one. However, if Luffy perishes, such an ending wouldn’t be feasible. Consequently, for Oda to achieve his ideal conclusion, Luffy must live on.

Eiichiro Oda expressed that he avoids depicting scenes where people die in his artwork because he prefers to draw a lively, post-battle celebration instead. He noted that such a somber event as a death would dampen the atmosphere of an enjoyable party. For him, a festive gathering symbolizes friendship, and he desires to conclude One Piece with a grand celebration.

It’s quite contrary to what most “One Piece” fans expect, given that Luffy has numerous indicators of impending death, which have been gradually accumulated during his journey. For instance, his lifespan was diminished when he infiltrated Impel Down and had to recover from Magellan’s lethal poison. Additionally, it’s been mentioned that his Gears consume his lifespan over time. While it appears that Oda has intentionally set up this scenario for Luffy, there will likely be a way demonstrated within “One Piece” to circumvent this, as Luffy can’t perish. Alternatively, Luffy might meet an untimely end after the series concludes, but not before then.
