Oda Made A Huge Mistake in the Latest One Piece Chapter

This article contains spoilers for the One Piece manga.

Summary

  • Oda made an error in the latest chapter of One Piece regarding Saint Sommers’ chopped arm.
  • Fans debated whether Sommers lost his right or left arm due to conflicting panels.
  • Despite the mistake, it doesn’t impact the storyline and is likely to be corrected in the volume release.

The storyline of “One Piece”‘s Elbaf arc has been growing increasingly thrilling with each new installment. The narrative centered on the Holy Knights has proved particularly gripping and dramatic, with Scopper Gaban’s entrance adding to the excitement. Most fans have been satisfied with Oda’s handling of the Elbaf arc thus far, but a significant blunder in the latest chapter has left some fans baffled over which interpretation is accurate and which may be incorrect.

Oda Made A Huge Mistake in the Latest One Piece Chapter

Oda Made Some Errors While Drawing Sommers

In “One Piece”, due to its strict weekly release schedule, it’s understandable that occasional errors slip through. Swiftly, fans of “One Piece” have been adept at spotting many of the significant mistakes author Oda has made throughout the Elbaf arc, with most being rectified in the compiled book versions. The latest oversight revolves around the character of Saint Charlos, a member of the Holy Knights in “One Piece”.

In the One Piece storyline, Sommers, typically capable of healing any wound, experienced a shocking moment when his arm was severed for good, and it was no less than Scopper Gaban, one of Roger’s hands, who performed the deed.

The error lies in determining which arm was severed. Two separate illustrations depicted this incident, with each displaying a distinct arm. In the initial scene, it was Sommers who lost his left arm, whereas the subsequent larger image depicted him losing his right arm.

This error is inconsequential to the narrative, because, at its core, it doesn’t make a difference whether Sommers lost his right or left arm. Fortunately, this issue can be rectified once the volume gets reduced.

Fans are curious: Was it Sommers’ right or left arm that was severed? It’s not definitive which arm the creator intended, but it appears more likely that Sommers lost his right arm due to the larger, more elaborate scene showing him with his right arm missing. The smaller panel depicting the loss of his left arm may be easier to revise and adjust in comparison. Altering a larger panel can prove challenging.

Other Mistakes Oda Has Made

The Mistakes Are Plenty, but Rarely Important

As a passionate fan, I can’t help but admit that even with the incredible detail and planning that goes into One Piece, it’s no surprise that its prolific creator, Oda, has occasionally slipped up. Most of these minor oversights are so minute that they’re only spotted by dedicated fans scrutinizing every character to the tiniest detail.

In certain instances, characters like Nami and Luffy, who are depicted with ornamental weapons in one scene within the Elbaf arc, may be shown without these weapons in the following scene. For instance, while they were wielding a sword and an axe in some frames, they were later seen without them in others.
