This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf arc.
Summary
- Luffy wants his crew to surpass Shanks, hinting at the addition of one more member.
- Blackbeard’s crew has 10 members, suggesting Luffy needs one more for balance.
- Oda hints at Loki being the last Straw Hat, with indications of his acceptance by Luffy.
In its concluding chapter, Eiichiro Oda is set to unravel the grandest enigmas and feature key characters in pivotal roles. It’s during this stage that we can expect Luffy and his Straw Hat companions to achieve their objectives, leading to a joint effort by the crew to claim the elusive One Piece and etch their names in history.
Before the Straw Hat Pirates create history, they still need to recruit their final team member. Despite the crew already being large and formidable, they are not yet fully assembled. Luffy still has one more character to join him on his adventure, and there may be a significant clue from Oda about the identity of this last member.
Why Luffy Still Needs One More Crewmate
- Luffy Wants His Crew To Surpass Shanks
- Luffy and Blackbeard’s Crews Must Match Up
Before discussing the potential new member of the Straw Hat Pirates, it’s important to acknowledge the debate surrounding the need for additional crew members given Luffy’s status as a Yonko. However, even though Luffy might not require more pirates on his ship due to his position, creator Oda has hinted at Luffy gaining one more family member. Initially, Luffy expressed his desire for a crew of 10 members. To date, he has only nine. Previously, Oda has mentioned that Luffy will have a crew of 10, suggesting that another underling is yet to join the group.
To begin with, I’m planning to assemble my team. Around ten members seems appropriate. – Luffy on his desired crew size.
Should that not satisfy them, fans merely need to examine the crews of other Yonko leaders. Shanks, for instance, commands a team of nine high-ranking officers: Ben Beckman, Lucky Roux, Yasopp, Bonk Punch Lime Juice, Building Snake, Howling Gab, Monster, and Hongo. However, it’s worth noting that Rockstar could potentially be the tenth member.
Observers of the Blackbeard Pirates are aware that Blackbeard currently commands a total of ten ship captains. If Luffy aims to defeat him, he presently needs one more captain under his command.
Oda Hints At Loki Being The Last Straw Hat In One Piece
From an onlooker’s perspective, it seems the Elbaf arc of One Piece has been subtly suggesting a growing bond between Luffy and Loki. It appears increasingly likely that Loki, the Misunderstood Prince of Elbaf, could potentially become the final Straw Hat crew member. The Giants themselves often fail to comprehend Loki’s actions, casting him in an unfavorable light. In chapter 1145 of One Piece, Oda subtly hinted once more that Loki might soon join Luffy’s crew.
I was simply born in the wrong era. — Loki to Luffy
How Loki Got Rejected By Rocks D. Xebec
In chapter 1145 of One Piece, a brief glimpse into Loki’s past was provided to readers. It became evident that as a child, Loki had aspired to join Rocks D. Xebec’s crew, but his idol had refused him. Despite never being allowed on Rocks’ ship, Loki continued to admire him. Simultaneously, Loki feels he was born in the wrong time because he missed the opportunity to set sail with Rocks when he was young.
An intriguing aspect is that Loki emerged during a fitting period. The Harley depicts Loki engaging in combat alongside Imu with Luffy, suggesting that as the Elbaf arc unfolds, Loki will grow to esteem Luffy as Nika. Notably, the last individual Loki held in high regard refused his invitation to sail on his vessel. Apart from Rocks, only Luffy is likely to gain Loki’s respect, and this time around, he won’t be turned down. Eventually, Loki will embark on a voyage, and it seems probable that he will do so with the Straw Hat Pirates.
