It appears that fans have been curious about this matter, and now, Oda is shedding light on it. He not only clarified one such mixed race, known as the Dosundada, but also unveiled a race so scarce in the One Piece universe, it could be considered exceptionally rare.

Across all the global races, there’s one universal bond – it’s love. Throughout the years, Oda has created a variety of fascinating races, and although discrimination is present in their world, there are individuals who challenge it, understanding that love transcends boundaries. Scopper Gaban, often referred to as the Missionary of Love, is one such character, having married a Giant named Ripley. Likewise, there are others in the One Piece universe who aren’t confined by prejudiced mindsets and act freely.

Often, this has resulted in mixed races being born, and Oda briefly touched upon them through Gaban. According to Gaban, Buccaneers, Wotans, and Dosundada are all mixed races. While Buccaneers and Wotans were very well known, fans weren’t entirely sure what a Dosundada was. As such, Oda was asked about this in One Piece SBS Volume 112. Here’s what he had to say:

Greetings, Oda-san! Could you tell me more about the Dosundada Tribe? Are they a tribe that originated from a blend of Giant and Dwarf races, or perhaps a fusion of ancient Giants and Dwarves? (Or could it be both?)

The response is nearly accurate! What you’re looking for is a hybrid breed, combining humans with dwarves. The unique name of their tribe, “Tontatta,” originated from the adorable noises they make when walking. If you increase the volume a bit, it transforms into “Dosundada.” Interestingly, the offspring of a Giant and a Dwarf is known as the “Zushindodo Tribe” – these beings are quite rare.

It’s quite intriguing to note that Oda has introduced an unusual and perplexing mixed race in the world of One Piece – the Zushindodo Race. This race originates when a Giant, standing at around 20 meters tall, has offspring with a Tontatta, who are only about 20 cm tall. As you might imagine, this is as extraordinary as it seems! Given that a typical Giant is 100 times larger than a Tontatta, the workings of this race are indeed mind-boggling to us humans, yet they do exist, albeit very rarely.
