Both Stardew Valley and Cyberpunk 2077, originating from different game developers, find themselves in a similar situation. Stardew Valley is about to celebrate its tenth anniversary, while Cyberpunk 2077 is approaching its fifth. However, it seems as though these games were only released yesterday due to the continuous updates they’re releasing, keeping them at the center of attention. It’s worth noting that both games continue to hold a dominant position in discussions, with their current fanbases being larger than some newer titles on the market.
It’s clear that these games, including the controversial launch of Cyberpunk 2077, have grown remarkably popular over time – quite ironic considering Cyberpunk’s initial struggles. With Stardew Valley’s 1.7 update coming soon and Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.3 update just released, it appears that other projects from each studio might be delayed temporarily. Alternatively, or perhaps in addition to this, the ongoing updates indicate that both games are still under development, something their creators would seem to acknowledge.
When ‘Final’ Updates Don’t Actually Mean Final

Stardew Valley 1.7 Happened, Even With Haunted Chocolatier in the Works
An unexpected aspect of the Stardew Valley 1.7 update is its timing. Following the release of the game’s 1.6 update, developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone had already announced his intention to focus on Haunted Chocolatier, a project that had been sidelined in favor of Stardew Valley up until then. Despite this announcement, the life simulator’s 1.7 update has arrived, with Haunted Chocolatier still in development.

At present, we’re unsure about the features of Stardew Valley’s next update, as its release date hasn’t been set and there’s no estimated timeline either. This uncertainty might actually benefit the Haunted Chocolatier game, as the lack of a specific release date for Stardew Valley 1.7 could indicate that the developer is primarily focusing on the upcoming chocolate-making simulation game. In fact, Barone himself stated that his intention is to ensure that the development of Stardew Valley 1.7 won’t interfere with the Haunted Chocolatier, though this could imply that the update may not be very significant.
Cyberpunk 2077 2.3 Happened, Even After 2.1 Was Scheduled to Be the Last
Notably, after the launch of the Phantom Liberty expansion and version 2.0 update for Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red released another update, version 2.1, packaged with the Ultimate Edition in December 2023. The developer had announced that 2.1 would be the final significant update for Cyberpunk 2077, but in December 2024, an additional update, version 2.2, was released. To add to this, CD Projekt Red unveiled another update, version 2.3, for Cyberpunk 2077 in July 2025, indicating that the initial statement about completing updates was made too soon.

It remains uncertain if “Cyberpunk 2077” will receive an update version 2.4 in the future, but it’s definitely not off the table given the game’s enduring popularity. What makes both “Cyberpunk 2077” and “Stardew Valley” intriguing is that their creators appear to be constantly engaged with them, which probably explains why players can’t seem to get enough of these games too. On a positive note, the development of “Haunted Chocolatier” is still ongoing, as confirmed by Barone. As for the next “Cyberpunk” game, no details have been disclosed yet, but we can probably expect a similar dedication to its creation.
