Off The Grid: Crypto-Backed ‘Extraction Royale’ Joins Forces With The World’s Biggest Creators

As a seasoned gamer and tech enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of gaming since the days of Pong and Pac-Man, I must say that Off the Grid piques my interest in a way few games have in recent memory. The combination of an extraction shooter and battle royale model, set against the backdrop of a cyberpunk-themed world, is certainly intriguing.

Over the past few days, you may have noticed some popular streamers worldwide participating in a game called Off the Grid, which is similar to Fortnite but takes place in a cyberpunk-styled environment. Unlike Fortnite, Off the Grid emphasizes realism more and deviates from Epic Games’ iconic battle royale setting.

Off the Grid is a newly developed extraction royale game, funded through cryptocurrency, and built on a blockchain system. It includes a decentralized trading platform akin to an NFT marketplace, allowing for peer-to-peer transactions.

Becoming Prolific

Lately, popular streamers such as Ninja, TimTheTatman, and Scump have started playing Off the Grid alongside their streaming companions, discovering all that this innovative blend of extraction-shooter and battle-royale gameplay has to offer. Essentially, it merges the standard elements of an extraction shooter with those of a battle royale.

In each game, approximately 150 players descend onto multiple maps with the goal of being the sole survivor or surviving team. As they traverse these maps, they gather ‘Cyberlimbs’ to boost and modify their characters, while utilizing over 300 distinct weapon combinations to obliterate their surroundings.

OFF THE GRID IS SICK 🔥🔥

Initially released in early access for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series XS, and PC platforms, Off the Grid has been somewhat overlooked until recently. Although it was planned for quite some time, its visibility remained low. However, with the launch of a new marketing campaign, this game is now garnering mainstream popularity.

Without a doubt, this project is quite ambitious. It’s spearheaded by Neill Blomkamp, a renowned director and screenwriter, who brings an intriguing origin story to it. Interestingly, this narrative threads through the background of the game. Over the past year or two, the development company, Gunzilla Games, has seen substantial growth with approximately $100 million in investments from various cryptocurrency and blockchain-focused firms, due to the game’s emphasis on these technologies.

Even though this connection may seem concerning to some gamers, the team wants players to know that these features are not mandatory.

Gunzilla guarantees gamers that they won’t sell NFTs directly to players or conceal game advancements or features within a paid subscription. Any trading activity is purely voluntary.

Gunzilla is confident that the GUNZ platform could revolutionize the fundamental gaming experience for players. Those who have no interest in trading can easily bypass this aspect and solely focus on enjoying the entire game, absolutely free, with no restrictions whatsoever.

It’s great to have the gang back together 😇

At first glance, Off the Grid seems like an impressive shooter with unique features that could potentially thrive in the gaming industry. It’s off to a good start with a robust marketing strategy and has already formed alliances with some major streaming platforms, which is crucial for a game’s success.
