As a huge fan of survival games, once I heard about Once Human, I couldn’t help but be intrigued. The concept of being a Meta-Human in a post-apocalyptic world infested with an alien substance called Stardust was both terrifying and exciting. And the fact that it had already garnered such a massive following on Steam before its release spoke volumes about its potential.
NetEase Games, the publisher, and Starry Studio, the developer, have given a sneak peek at the upcoming update for Once Human, along with sharing the current number of players.
As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the recent release of “Once Human” on Steam has been nothing short of a phenomenon. Having closely monitored the most wish-listed games on the platform, it came as no surprise to me when this title finally hit the market on July 9th.
In the aftermath of the apocalypse, everything has been drastically altered. Humans, animals, and plants are all affected by an extraterrestrial invader known as Stardust. As a Meta-Human, you possess the unique ability to endure the contamination brought about by this alien entity. Go solo or team up with others to battle, construct, and explore this new world. Amidst the turmoil, you are our last beacon of hope.
In the midst of an unfamiliar and desolate location, you suddenly find yourself awake. Prepare yourself for the harsh realities of nature, from potential threats such as monsters to scarcity of sustenance. Yet, the reach of Stardust extends beyond living beings; it also influences the soil and water. Consuming contaminated food or drinking impure water can lead to a decline in your mental stability, which in turn causes a proportional reduction in your maximum health. The decision to eat or abstain becomes a crucial dilemma.
Moving forward, the Once Human team has given some sneak peeks into the September update for the game. These previews include a new Player vs Player (PVP) gameplay situation where the major factions in the game, Mayflies and Rosetta, clash. Furthermore, a fresh Player vs Environment (PVE) scenario with a newly designed northern mountain area, monsters, and obstacles is under development, but the launch date remains undisclosed.
