Once Human: Shadow Hound Boss Guide

Once Human: Shadow Hound Boss Guide

As a seasoned player of Once Human, I can tell you that the Shadow Hound is one of the most formidable enemies I have encountered so far. Its intimidating size and deadly attacks make it a true challenge for even the bravest of adventurers.

As a devoted fan of Once Human’s intricately crafted gameworld, I can attest to the diverse array of Deviants that populate its landscapes. Ranging from rudimentary zombies to enigmatic military personnel and otherworldly creatures with uncanny appearances, these Deviants come in all shapes and sizes. Among them are the formidable adversaries known as Great Ones – heavily mutated beings that far surpass their weaker counterparts in power.

The Shadow Hound, as the name implies, is a much larger and more dangerous beast resembling a dog. Preparing for battle against this formidable foe in “Once Human” will require an ample supply of ammunition and enhanced weaponry. However, your survival depends not only on your firepower but also on your ability to dodge its attacks.

How To Beat Shadow Hound In Once Human

Among the past bosses, Shadow Hound is arguably the most challenging for solo players, aside from Arachsiam. This formidable creature boasts large size and wields powerful melee sweeps, intimidating attacks, and a devastating super move that can inflict substantial damage if left unchecked. For those encountering this boss for the first time during the main quest, underleveling is a significant concern. However, Once Human offers several methods to rapidly advance in level, including completing commissions or engaging in side quests.

In Normal setting, The Shadow Hound primarily assaults by rushing towards players, releasing projectiles, sucking up players into an ensuing blast, and discharging a fatal laser beam from its maw. To dodge these attacks, you can:

  • Melee attacks: Stay far away and sprint to the side when the Shadow Hound starts to wind up. Only roll away when it comes too close.
  • Spit attack: Dodge toward the Shadow Hound. The spit attack comes out in a fan shape, which means you still risk getting hit if you dodge sideways.
  • Laser attack: Sprint backwards or dodge to the right.
  • Vacuum move: Sprint away and spam your dodge roll.

The vulnerable area of Shadow Hound is located inside its mouth. Yet, this information isn’t disclosed by the boss until after you’ve depleted a portion of its health.

As a devoted fan, I’d suggest this: When the Shadow Hound’s battle wears on and it enters its invulnerable phase, it transforms into a formidable opponent with immense damage resistance. In this stage, target its shoulder areas, where there are two menacing mouths. Don’t forget to take down the Duskorbs that appear during this transformation as well; they provide a brief reprieve from the Shadow Hound’s relentless assault.

After you fire at its mouths, the Shadow Hound transforms into a large, ominous cloud of swirling black energy in the air. If you allow it to linger, it will eventually unleash a devastating attack that can instantly defeat most players. However, during this phase, you have an opportunity to shoot the Shadow Hound down while it’s in this state. Each bullet depletes a white health bar beneath its current form. Once the bar is empty, the boss falls harmlessly from the sky and lies motionless on the ground, granting you a chance to inflict additional damage for free. Powerful guns like the SOCR Outsider from Once Human excel during such moments.

Keep alternating between avoiding its attacks and striking back at the Shadow Hound. With persistence, it will ultimately collapse. Following its defeat, you have the opportunity to allocate Controllers towards the victory chest situated in the arena’s center for obtaining rewards. TheShadow Hound’s hoard may contain the Muramasa, a legendary katana boasting an exclusive set of moves.
