However, had MultiVersus introduced this character during a previous season, it could have leveraged the immense popularity of a particular movie.

Players who enjoy a casual round in MultiVersus might not know about the game’s connected comics that started coming out mid-September 2024. These tie-in comics didn’t just showcase classic characters like Bugs Bunny, Jake and Finn from Adventure Time, Steven Universe, and DC’s Trinity, but they also hinted at new characters potentially joining MultiVersus in the future. Recent leaks suggest that one of these characters – the Wicked Witch – could soon be part of the fighting game, although it seems more fitting if she had been added a bit earlier.

The Wicked Witch of the West Flies into MultiVersus

The comic book series titled “MultiVersus: Collision Detected” lasts for just six issues. Since it was produced by DC Comics, characters like Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman are at the center of the story. The first issue is named “Level One: The Rabbit, The Witch, and The Star Child.” The Rabbit and the Star Child likely represent Bugs Bunny and Steven Universe, but figuring out who the Witch character in MultiVersus might be can be a bit tricky. However, as the story unfolds, we discover that the Witch is none other than the Wicked Witch of the West.

It’s been anticipated among comic series enthusiasts that the Wicked Witch of the West would eventually join the roster of characters in MultiVersus, given her recent incorporation into the universe. Yet, rumors circulating from a reliable leaker for MultiVersus on platform X (previously Twitter) suggest that she might debut in Season 6.

It’s quite straightforward to foresee where the Wicked Witch of the West might fit into the team. Given that Player First and Warner Bros. Games may endow her with some magical powers like flight, it seems plausible that she would be categorized as a Mage character in MultiVersus. Mages are often referred to as Ranged fighters, and they typically rely on traps and projectiles in combat. However, it’s important to note that while Mages are magic users, not all magic users in MultiVersus fall under the Mage archetype.

It’s surprising that MultiVersus didn’t introduce the Wicked Witch of the West to their character roster during Season 3, given that many players were already anticipating her arrival in the game. Yet, MultiVersus: Collision Detected isn’t the only property where MultiVersus could have leveraged tie-ins. There might be several explanations as to why MultiVersus didn’t include the Wicked Witch of the West in Season 3. The season debuted with the Powerpuff Girls and Nubia as playable characters, while Townsville – the city that serves as their home in the game – was already available at launch. It seems plausible that the developers may have wanted to focus on introducing the trio without overshadowing them by adding the Wicked Witch of the West at the same time.
