As a lifelong Marvel fan who has spent countless hours delving into the rich tapestry of stories and characters that populate the Marvel Universe, I can confidently say that the upcoming release of “Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra” is nothing short of a dream come true. EA is developing Iron Man and Black Panther games, Arkane Lyon is working on Marvel’s Blade, and Insomniac continues its efforts on Marvel’s Wolverine. Fans may get a sneak peek at these projects next year. However, there’s one Marvel Games project that will precede them, and it’s none other than Marvel 1943: The Ascendancy of Hydra.

The title and storyline for the game previously known as Skydance Marvel Project, now called “Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra,” were revealed earlier this year. Recently, fans have received more information about the upcoming 2025 Marvel game through an interview with writer Amy Hennig in Entertainment Weekly. One of these details is that Howard Stark (the father of Iron Man/Tony Stark) will have a significant role in “Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra,” going beyond just a brief appearance.

Despite Cap’s origins frequently being rewritten, Howard Stark is typically present during his super-soldier transformation, collaborating with scientist Abraham Erskine.

In certain storylines, I find myself as a part of a fascinating narrative where my idol, Howard Stark, was involved in the Manhattan Project. This association, unfortunately, led to a harrowing ordeal for both him and his wife, Maria. They were apprehended by the ruthless Hydra leader, Red Skull, who sought to extract weapons of atomic power from Howard through torture. Mercifully, they were rescued by Captain America and his valiant team, the Howling Commandos.

During World War II, a story featuring Howard Stark unfolds as he constructs a potent robot named Arsenal, meant as a desperate measure if the Allies were to lose the war. Fortunately, the Allies triumphed, leaving Arsenal in storage. However, within Arsenal’s basic AI system, called Mistress, a dormant consciousness persisted. Years later, Arsenal unexpectedly comes back online in the current era and clashes with the Avengers, mistakenly identifying them as Axis forces due to its outdated programming.

Howard Stark Deserves More Time in the Spotlight

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Howard Stark has made several appearances. Dominic Cooper is the one who brought the younger version of the character to life in Captain America: The First Avenger and Agent Carter, while John Slattery played the older version in Iron Man 2, Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Endgame.
