As a gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt and a soft spot for the fourth-wall breaking, crassly humorous antics of Wade Wilson, the news that High Moon Studio’s Deadpool game could be making a comeback has me more excited than Drax at a joke about Thanos. The 2013 title, while not the most critically acclaimed Marvel game, found a special place in my heart and many others who appreciated its irreverent charm and hack-and-slash gameplay.

Over the years, I’ve come to admire Deadpool as one of Marvel’s standout characters. Despite Deadpool being a popular character, the game hasn’t resurfaced on digital marketplaces like PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, or Steam for more than seven years.

It’s intriguing to note that fans have been discussing a potential positive development following X user Knoebel’s observation of a new Steam update for Deadpool and six other de-listed games. Some fans are excitedly speculating about the possibility of a remastered version or a new campaign, while others hope this could mean that Deadpool will become available on Steam once more. This speculation is heightened by the fact that some online marketplaces listed the game for $50,000 in August, although these prices were likely inflated due to the upcoming 2024 release of the Deadpool and Wolverine film. Despite this, it’s evident that there remains a strong demand for the game, even though players can currently only obtain it through second-hand copies.

The latest update to the game can be seen through SteamDB, a third-party database. The “Last Record Update” section indicates changes as recent as November 14th. In this update, a list of games shows “added store_screenshot,” which suggests Activision may be taking steps towards reintroducing some of its previously unavailable licensed games.
