One MultiVersus Season 4 Character Should Open the Floodgates

As a lifelong fan of both DC Comics and Cartoon Network, I can’t contain my excitement over Raven joining MultiVersus! Growing up with Teen Titans reruns on Boomerang and reading countless issues of their comic book adventures, seeing Raven in this game feels like a dream come true.

Since its launch in 2022, the game MultiVersus has brought a multitude of renowned characters into the arena. Notably, it’s not only incorporated famous Warner Bros. franchises but also characters from various Cartoon Network series. The latest character joining the fight is a versatile addition, as this cunning demon is not just a regular on Cartoon Network, but is highly popular in DC Comics and has a successful live-action TV adaptation.

In the game MultiVersus, many characters from Cartoon Network and DC have already been introduced, making it fitting to add this new character. However, unlike others with superhero backgrounds, this newcomer stands out due to some unique traits. Raven is actually the first magic user in the MultiVersus roster, which could pose a challenge for players who aren’t fond of Mages.

Raven Joins MultiVersus

For me, as a part of a particular gaming generation, Raven is iconic due to her time gracing Cartoon Network. Therefore, her character design in the game MultiVersus stands out uniquely, drawing more inspiration from the DC Comics universe rather than her designs from the 2003 run of Teen Titans or Teen Titans Go!.

Regardless of how she looks, gamers will swiftly identify Raven’s signature maneuvers due to their familiarity with her character. While these moves may not have specific names within MultiVersus, her gameplay reveal trailer emphasizes her famous incantation “Azarath Metrion Zinthos,” implying that this spell is among her moves. In addition, Raven’s ability to float and manipulate black portals and purple energy aligns with her moves from Teen Titans. MultiVersus has officially classified Raven as a Mage character, which fits her unique skill set flawlessly.

Among the first characters introduced in MultiVersus is Raven, hailing from the Titans. Given her status as an initial inclusion and the pioneer of her franchise, it’s not hard to imagine who else might join the roster, with anticipation growing about potential new additions following Raven’s entrance onto the scene.

Teen Titans Go… to MultiVersus?

As a die-hard fan, I’ve always found the heart of the Teen Titans to be an ever-evolving yet consistent group. Though numerous characters have graced the comics and animated series, it’s usually Robin (Dick Grayson), Beast Boy, Cyborg, Starfire, and Raven who make up the core team.

In terms of fitting into the game, Raven seems a more logical choice than her teammates in MultiVersus, given her role as a sorceress and long-range abilities. Starfire, who shares many powers with a Titan, could also plausibly be included, as her addition might seem justifiable as well.

In summary, it’s worth noting that Raven and Marceline from Adventure Time are being introduced together in MultiVersus. Given their shared darker, Gothic styles, it seems like the game creators chose Raven over Starfire for this release. This could hint at potential future appearances of other Titans in the game as well.

Translating Titans into MultiVersus’ character roles is quite straightforward. Robin, known for his stealthy and agile combat style, would most likely fit the Assassin role. Cyborg, with his metallic body and array of tools, seems best suited for the Tank role. As for Beast Boy, it might be challenging to classify him because of his shape-shifting abilities. However, placing him as a Bruiser could work, although it may not align perfectly with his power set. Considering this, the Assassin archetype appears more fitting for Beast Boy.

In essence, the inclusion of Raven in MultiVersus is anticipated to bolster the Teen Titans’ presence significantly within the game. Players can try out Raven independently before her teammates make their appearance, with the gameplay beginning for Season 4 on November 12.
