Released in late May, the free-to-play indie game ENA: Dream BBQ quickly became a hit with players. By 2025, it ranked as the fourth highest-rated game on Steam and even cracked the platform’s all-time top 30.
Dream BBQ, known as ENA, is a quirky adventure game created by ENA Team, an independent group led by artist and animator Joel Guerra from Peru. The game isn’t just inspired by, but continues the story of Guerra’s popular and strange YouTube shorts. These shorts, known for their unique art style, memorable characters, and nonsensical humor, were released between May 2020 and February 2021. Instead of making a fifth short, Guerra expanded the series into a full video game, which launched on Steam on March 27th.
ENA: Dream BBQ Is the 4th Highest-Rated 2025 Steam Game
The adventure game ENA: Dream BBQ quickly became a hit with players. Within a month of its release last spring, it received 18,000 “Overwhelmingly Positive” reviews on Steam. Over the next eight months, player enthusiasm remained consistently high, and even more people shared their praise for the free game. Currently, ENA: Dream BBQ has over 32,782 reviews on Steam, with 96.50% of them being positive. This makes it one of the top five highest-rated games released in 2025 on Valve’s platform.

Besides being a free game, ENA: Dream BBQ currently doesn’t include any in-app purchases. However, there’s a special “Supporter Edition” for dedicated fans. This version includes a lot of behind-the-scenes content, like early animations, concept art, development screenshots, and developer insights, plus extras like ringtones and wallpapers.
ENA: Dream BBQ Chapter 2 Is Currently in Development, But Won’t Be Free
ENA: Dream BBQ was originally planned as a game with multiple chapters, but currently only the first chapter, “Lonely Door,” is available. The second chapter, “Fly in a Web,” is still in development, but the ENA Team has announced it will be released as downloadable content (DLC) that players will need to purchase. The price for this DLC hasn’t been announced yet.
Besides Deltarune and Schedule 1, no other games from this year’s top 10 received enough positive reviews to crack Steam’s all-time top 10 list. However, the other eight titles still made it into the all-time top 100. ENA: Dream BBQ is the best-rated free game released on Steam this year, and the second most popular free game overall, following only HoloCure – Save the Fans, a popular 2023 bullet hell game featuring Hololive VTubers.
If you enjoy indie and artistic games on Steam, be sure to check out Poco, a free point-and-click adventure with a circus theme. Released in May, this charming interactive story about a tiny clown has received overwhelmingly positive reviews (95.91%) from players. Unlike another popular free game, ENA: Dream BBQ, the creators of Poco don’t plan to add any paid content. Originally a university project, Poco only used Kickstarter to cover minor costs like festival entry fees and was never meant to be a commercial product.
