I was so excited to hear that Nintendo is releasing a free update for Pikmin 4 in November! Pikmin 4 was already one of my favorite games on the Switch, and I can’t wait to see what cool new things they add with this update. It’s awesome that they’re continuing to support the game like this!
After a ten-year wait following the popular Pikmin 3, Pikmin 4 launched on Nintendo Switch in 2023 to overwhelmingly positive reception. Critics loved the game’s engaging real-time strategy and clever level design, and it currently boasts an impressive average score of 88 on OpenCritic.
What Will Be Included in Pikmin 4’s November 2025 Update?
- Decor Pikmin
- Photo Mode
- New Creature Activity Levels
A big update is coming to Pikmin 4 in November, adding three exciting features! First, Decor Pikmin – originally from Pikmin Bloom – will appear in the game, challenging players to find these uniquely styled Pikmin and add them to their team. The update also introduces a Photo Mode, letting players capture screenshots from different angles and customize them with filters, stamps, and characters. Finally, players will be able to choose between two new difficulty levels: “Relaxed” for an easier experience, or “Fierce” for a greater challenge.
Fans of the Pikmin series will be glad to hear about this new development, especially after a letdown earlier in October. Nintendo initially released two Pikmin short films that many players hoped were previews of a new game, but they turned out to be standalone videos created by Nintendo Pictures.
Some fans are disappointed that Pikmin 4 hasn’t been updated to take advantage of the new Nintendo Switch 2 console. While rumors from a trustworthy source suggested an update was coming earlier this year, it still hasn’t been released.
Honestly, even if the Switch 2 doesn’t happen, I’m pretty sure Nintendo will keep supporting Pikmin 4. It was a huge success – over three million copies sold! I’m just wondering if we’ll see more updates for it, or if they’ll jump straight into announcing Pikmin 5 or another new game in the series. I’m hoping for more Pikmin, either way!
