There’s growing evidence that the Silent Hill 2 remake could be released on Xbox soon. The game has been a popular exclusive title for the PlayStation 5, but that exclusivity period ended on October 8th, leading fans to anticipate an Xbox version.
The remake of Silent Hill 2 came out on PlayStation 5 and PC on October 8, 2024, and quickly became one of the best-selling games in the Silent Hill series. It has already sold over 2.5 million copies, making up nearly a quarter of all Silent Hill games sold to date. With the game no longer exclusive to PlayStation, sales are expected to increase as it becomes available on more platforms.
ESRB Lists Xbox as a Platform for Silent Hill 2 Remake
The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) website now lists a rating for Silent Hill 2 on Xbox Series consoles, strongly suggesting the game will be released on those platforms. Fans have been eagerly awaiting news about versions for consoles beyond PC and PlayStation 5, and this ESRB listing adds to the excitement. Currently, there’s no indication the game will be released on Nintendo systems.
The possibility of the Silent Hill 2 remake coming to Xbox is exciting news for fans who’ve long wished for more Silent Hill games on the platform. For years, Konami focused on PlayStation, so this could indicate they’re now considering wider releases for the series. The multi-platform launch of Silent Hill f suggests there’s broad appeal for psychological horror games, regardless of what system people play on.
Although Xbox players are excited about the possibility of Silent Hill coming to their console, fans who already enjoy the game on PC and PlayStation 5 are still waiting for news about the “Born from a Wish” downloadable content (DLC). Talk about the DLC began in June, but voice actress Salóme Gunnarsdóttir, who played Maria in the original 2001 game, has said she hasn’t recorded any new lines for it. While this doesn’t necessarily mean the DLC isn’t happening, it’s left fans unsure about what future content to expect. The development team, Bloober Team, hasn’t made any official statements about either the Xbox release or the DLC.
