One of the Biggest PS5 Games of January is Skipping PS5 Pro Support

Despite being a major PlayStation 5 release in January, Code Vein 2 won’t utilize the special, enhanced features offered by the PS5 Pro. The game will perform identically on both a standard PS5 and the PS5 Pro, so players won’t be able to experience the Pro’s exclusive improvements.

Even before its release in November 2024, details about the PS5 Pro had been widely leaked online. This upgraded version of the PlayStation 5 boasts a more powerful graphics processor and doubles the storage space with a 2TB solid-state drive. A key feature is PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), a technology that enhances graphics so games look sharp and run smoothly without a significant loss in visual quality. However, the PS5 Pro is expensive at $749.99 and doesn’t come with a disc drive.

Code Vein 2 Offers PS5 Pro Users No Special Perks

Even though the upcoming PS5 Pro offers improvements like PSSR, the new game Code Vein 2 won’t use these features when it’s released. It will run on the PS5 Pro just like it does on a regular PS5, but without the enhancements that make the Pro version more expensive. This is a little surprising, considering Code Vein 2 is a fast-paced action game where smooth performance and high frame rates are important for dodging and attacking enemies.

Even if you haven’t played the original Code Vein from 2019, you can still jump right into Code Vein 2. The new game from Bandai Namco lets you create a unique character, a Revenant Hunter, as your player avatar. A key feature is time travel: you’ll team up with a girl named Lou, whose powers allow you to change the past to affect the present and prevent the world’s destruction. You can gain power by absorbing the blood of defeated enemies, and a new customization system lets you tailor skills and weapons to match how you like to play. During your quest, you’ll also fight alongside various NPC partners, each with special abilities that can help you win battles.

Code Vein 2’s January Arrival Precludes a Busy 2026 in Gaming

Code Vein 2 is launching on January 29th for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, and it’s expected to run with similar performance on all platforms. To get the most out of the PC version, you’ll need at least an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card, and 16GB of DDR4 or DDR5 RAM.

Although players won’t immediately see special benefits for the PS5 Pro, Code Vein 2 is set to be a major game launch in 2026 on the PS5. It’s unclear which 2026 titles, including Resident Evil Requiem, Nioh 3, and Crimson Desert (all still planned for release early in the year), will offer unique features for those with the PS5 Pro.
