This article contains spoilers for the One Piece series.
Haki is a powerful spiritual energy and one of the core power systems in One Piece. It has many uses, including enhancing senses, strengthening attacks and defense, and, in rare instances, completely overpowering opponents.
Haki is a crucial ability in One Piece, but surprisingly, several characters have reached the story’s endgame without mastering it. Still, Haki remains a vital power, and the arc taking place in Elbaf might be where we see many new characters develop it – particularly within the Straw Hat crew. Characters like Robin and Franky are strong candidates to unlock Haki soon.
Robin
Haki To Unlock: Armament Haki
Besides Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Jinbe, Nico Robin is easily considered one of the most powerful members of the Straw Hat crew. She demonstrated her strength by defeating Black Maria without using Haki, and recently showed incredible courage by facing Saint Sommer in Elbaf.
Robin is an incredibly powerful fighter, and mastering Haki could make her as formidable as Jinbe. If she unlocks Haki and further develops her Devil Fruit abilities, she would be nearly invincible.
Brook
Haki To Unlock: Armament Haki
Brook might not be the most powerful member of the Straw Hat Pirates, but he consistently proves his value in and out of combat. While he didn’t have a major solo fight during the Wano arc, he was a huge help to Robin. If Brook masters Armament Haki, he’ll be even more effective against future opponents and could potentially take on more battles himself.
Franky
Haki To Unlock: Armament Haki
Franky has consistently demonstrated he’s among the strongest fighters in the Straw Hat Pirates, second only to Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Jinbe. He’s shown this by defeating powerful opponents like Sasaki in Wano and a Vice Admiral in Egghead with incredible ease. As the crew faces even tougher challenges, it’s becoming clear that Franky needs to master Armament Haki to stay competitive.
Urouge
Haki To Unlock: Armament Haki, Observation Haki
Urouge, often called the Mad Monk, is a member of the powerful Worst Generation, but he hasn’t played a major role in the story so far. We last saw him defeating Snack, one of Big Mom’s top commanders, and his current location is a mystery. It’s unclear whether he possesses Haki, but many believe he has the potential to develop both Armament and Observation Haki as the story progresses.
Nami
Haki To Unlock: Observation Haki
Nami, nicknamed ‘The Cat Burglar,’ is the Straw Hat Pirates’ navigator and has been with the crew since the very beginning, when they set sail from the East Blue. She’s become much more powerful over time, particularly after the two-year timeskip, and now possesses abilities like controlling Zeus. However, she still has room to grow and isn’t operating at her full potential.
Although Armament Haki would be beneficial for Nami, developing Observation Haki would significantly improve her skills as a navigator, and it’s likely she’ll master it in the near future.
Tony Tony Chopper
Haki To Unlock: Armament Haki
Tony Tony Chopper is the Straw Hat Pirates’ doctor. Although he’s capable in a fight, he’s generally considered one of the crew’s weaker members. He could become much more powerful if he learned to use Haki.
Similar to many members of the Straw Hat crew, Chopper would greatly benefit from learning Haki, even if it’s just one type. While Observation Haki could be useful for him, what he needs most right now is Armament Haki.
Kozuki Momonosuke
Haki To Unlock: Armament Haki, Observation Haki, Conqueror’s Haki
As a huge One Piece fan, I’m so excited to see Momonosuke, the new Shogun of Wano, really come into his own! Becoming the leader of a country puts a ton on his shoulders, and he’s going to have to step up. He can’t always depend on the Straw Hats or Yamato to keep him safe, so he needs to get stronger, and I think he will – and fast! I truly believe Momonosuke has the potential to master all three types of Haki, even Conqueror’s Haki! If he does, he’ll be an incredible force for Wano, and a massive help to Luffy when the final showdown happens. It’s going to be amazing to watch his journey!
One Piece Chapter 1163 is scheduled for release this week, as usual on Sundays. While it becomes available in Japan at midnight on Monday (JST), most international fans will be able to read it on October 26th. The official release date is October 26, 2025, and the chapter will be available to read for free on Manga Plus.
