Haki is a powerful and frequently showcased ability in One Piece. It’s a significant advantage in combat, but relatively accessible – almost anyone in the One Piece world can awaken it, with the exception of the rarest form, Conqueror’s Haki. Mastering the other two types of Haki can greatly improve a fighter’s strength in the New World, and we’ve already seen how much of a difference it makes. While many characters already possess Haki, several others are poised to unlock this incredible power.
Bepo
- Devil Fruit: None
- Haki Types: None
Bepo is a key and powerful member of Law’s Heart Pirates crew. While Law is very strong, the crew as a whole could be much more formidable. Bepo, being the second most important member, is a prime candidate for a power increase, potentially through learning Haki. Developing either Observation Haki or Armament Haki would significantly improve his fighting ability. The crew’s recent loss to Blackbeard suggests that stronger Haki users could have changed the outcome of the battle.
Usopp
- Devil Fruit: None
- Haki Types: Observation
Usopp has already demonstrated some level of Haki, first showing Observation Haki during the Dressrosa arc in One Piece. However, to truly become a powerful fighter, he needs to develop Armament Haki as well. Many fans believe the upcoming Elbaf arc will be where Usopp unlocks new abilities, allowing him to become an even more skilled sniper.

Chopper
- Devil Fruit: None
- Haki Types: None
Chopper is the Straw Hat Pirates’ doctor, and while he’s strong in his own right, he should learn to use Haki. For Luffy to become Pirate King, the entire crew needs to be incredibly powerful, and most members of top-level pirate crews already have Haki. Chopper needs Haki to effectively fight powerful enemies, especially those with Devil Fruit powers like the Logia. It’s important for his development, and it’s likely he’ll master Haki in the upcoming Elbaf Arc or soon after.
Nami
Image by Toei Animation - Devil Fruit: None
- Haki Types: None
Nami is currently at a point where she really needs to learn Haki. She already has the Climatact and recently gained Zeus, one of Big Mom’s powerful creatures, giving her impressive control over the weather. However, she still struggles against strong opponents like Yonko Commanders and experienced crew members. Her victory over Ulti was only possible because Ulti was already severely weakened. Nami needs a significant power boost, and Haki seems like the most likely way she’ll achieve it.
Franky
- Devil Fruit: None
- Haki Types: None
I’m really hoping we see Franky develop Haki in One Piece! It just makes so much sense, especially considering how strong the Yonko crews are – every member needs to be a powerhouse, and that means mastering Haki. Franky’s a genius with technology, which is awesome, but against the really top-tier fighters like the Yonko Commanders, Haki would seriously level up his fighting ability and give him a much better chance.
Momonosuke
- Devil Fruit: Artificial Zoan Seiryu
- Haki Types: Observation
I’ve been watching Momonosuke, the current shogun of Wano, and it’s hard to believe he’s still just a child. Everyone has high hopes for him, and it feels like it won’t be long before he’s thrust into the thick of the upcoming war, expected to lead his country. He really needs to have mastered some sword skills by then, because without Haki, he won’t stand a chance. His dragon powers are impressive, no doubt, but if he’s serious about surpassing Oden – and he’s stated that’s his goal – he’ll eventually need to learn all three types of Haki.
Crocodile
- Devil Fruit: Suna Suna no Mi
- Haki Types: None (Displayed)
It’s surprising that Crocodile hasn’t demonstrated any Haki abilities yet in the story. While he was introduced as a villain early on, there’s no reason now, after the timeskip, why he wouldn’t be able to use Haki. Given his strong ambition, high bounty, and fearsome reputation, he should definitely possess at least two advanced forms of Haki.
Buggy
- Devil Fruit: Bara Bara no Mi
- Haki: None
Buggy is a key character in the later part of One Piece, and holds a position as one of the most powerful pirates on the sea. Although he isn’t particularly strong himself, he’s surrounded by a capable crew, making him a major force. Despite often being portrayed as a comical character, Buggy is a serious contender in the quest for the ultimate treasure, the One Piece. Even if he doesn’t ultimately win, he’s clearly more powerful than he appears.
-
Watching Buggy, it’s clear he really needs to develop Haki – maybe even all three kinds – to match his big goals. He might just be a late bloomer, but he definitely has the potential to become a serious rival to someone like Shanks. Now that he’s publicly stated he’s going for the One Piece, it’s time he started focusing on training and learning to control Haki.
Nico Robin
- Devil Fruit: Hana Hana no Mi
- Haki Types: None
Nico Robin is the character most deserving of learning Haki in the upcoming arcs of One Piece. She’s already a skilled Devil Fruit user, but needs to reach her full potential. With a bounty of 930 million berries, she needs a power boost beyond her currently unawakened Devil Fruit ability. While already strong, fans would be thrilled to see Robin master both Observation and Armament Haki, making her even more formidable.
