I’ve been watching One Piece, and it’s incredible seeing how Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates have become such strong adults. But what’s really fascinating is learning about their backstories. Even as kids, they all possessed a frightening amount of potential, something that clearly set them apart and hinted at the power they’d eventually wield. It’s no wonder they ended up with huge bounties on their heads!
When it comes to promising young characters, One Piece has a lot of them! These kids have incredible potential and could become the future’s most powerful pirates, monsters, and even rulers of the seas. Here’s a look at some of the children in One Piece that fans will definitely want to keep an eye on, whether they’re naturally gifted or self-taught.
This list includes child characters from anime-only story arcs of One Piece.
Mr. Beans
Mr. Beans is a remarkably clever child in One Piece, and one of the few who’s managed to trick Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates. Despite being so young, he’s already becoming a successful bounty hunter, showing that drive and intelligence aren’t tied to age.
Mr. Beans was an operative at Baroque Works, working with Miss Catherine. He received orders from leading agents like Miss Monday, Mr. 9, Mr. 8, and Vivi. Skilled with a dagger and a flintlock pistol, Mr. Beans often tricked unsuspecting people as part of his plans.
Lil
Lil Accino comes from a family of bounty hunters and often uses her young age to get what she wants from people. She’s incredibly confident – she quickly befriended Nico Robin, even calling her ‘older sister’ – and isn’t afraid to deceive others, like when she pretended to share important information with Robin, only to turn the tables for her own gain.
Lil has a unique ability: she can create fish-birds from capsules, which help her family with their bounty hunting. She’s even managed to steal the Straw Hat Pirates’ flag using this power. Additionally, she can manipulate plants, similar to someone who ate the Grow-Grow Devil Fruit.
Olga Myskina
The One Piece special, Heart of Gold, featured Olga Myskina, a character who looked six years old but was actually 206 years old. She possessed a unique ring that stopped her from aging, effectively making her immortal.
Olga has a magical ring and a very obedient pet – a water lizard named Elizabeth. Elizabeth always does exactly what Olga asks, following her commands instantly and with complete loyalty.
Apis
In the One Piece anime arc that takes place on Warship Island, Luffy’s crew encounters Apis, a girl with a special ability. She ate the Hiso Hiso no Mi, a Devil Fruit that lets her read the minds of animals – even huge creatures like dragons and Sea Kings.
I’ve noticed Apis is a lot like Luffy – really energetic and friendly. She’s not shy about saying what she thinks, and she’d do anything for the people she cares about. What’s really cool is her devil fruit ability; animals seem to act as her early warning system, alerting her to danger and helping her avoid trouble before it even arrives.
Aisa
It’s unusual for children in One Piece to possess Haki, but Aisa from the Skypiea arc is a special case. She was born with Observation Haki, called “Mantra” in Skypiea, giving her a remarkable ability to sense her surroundings and the people nearby.
Aisa seems like a typical, adorable young girl, but she’s actually a courageous warrior. She’s determined to protect her people, the Shandia tribe, even if it means battling powerful pirates like Luffy and the Straw Hat crew. Her primary weapon is the Burn Blade, which works on a similar principle to Caesar Clown’s Blue Sword.
Kurozumi Tama
Tama is remarkably good at making friends, even with pirates, in One Piece. She befriended both Portgas D. Ace and the Straw Hat Pirates, and amazingly, she was even able to influence the powerful Big Mom because of Big Mom’s fondness for her.
Tama appears fragile, but she’s incredibly determined to protect her friends, giving her the bravery to confront even the most frightening challenges. She also possesses a unique power from a special fruit, the Kibi Kibi no Mi, which allows her to befriend any animal that eats a sweet dumpling she creates and offers.
Kuina
Many One Piece fans remember Kuina, a skilled swordswoman who consistently defeated Zoro in practice matches. She previously owned the Wado Ichimonji, a famous sword considered one of the twelve supreme-grade blades, before Zoro inherited it.
Kuina came from a family, the Shimotsuki, known for creating incredibly skilled swordsmen, which likely accounted for her natural talent with a blade. Had she not tragically died in a fall, she would have been Zoro’s equal, making her a definite addition to this list.

Colon
Colon has a strong destiny to follow in his father, Scopper Gaban’s, footsteps as a notorious pirate. Adding to his potential, he’s also half-giant, giving him incredible, naturally-occurring strength that most kids don’t have.
Colon isn’t as strong as a fully grown giant, but his body naturally gives him an edge in a fight. He currently fights with a simple wooden sword, but it’s probably just temporary until he gets a more powerful weapon.
Jewelry Bonney
It seems unbelievable, but Jewelry Bonney is actually just 12 years old! Despite her young age, she’s faced incredibly difficult trials and earned a massive bounty of 320 million berries. She even managed to survive the deadly Sapphire Scales disease, which tragically took her mother’s life.
Even at a young age, Bonney quickly rose to become the captain of a famous pirate crew and was recognized as one of the most dangerous new pirates. The Marines are constantly hunting her because she has control over the Pacifistas. What’s even more remarkable is that she’s powerful enough to defeat three vice admirals all by herself!
Bonney has another surprising ability: she can copy the powers of Nika using her Devil Fruit. Don’t underestimate her—despite how she looks, Bonney is a powerful fighter with incredible potential, making her a formidable opponent.
