The Five Elders are the most powerful leaders of the World Government, surpassing even the Holy Knights. They were incredibly strong even in the era of Rocks, and possess extraordinary abilities, including what appears to be immortality and unique Yokai powers, as demonstrated on Egghead.

Monkey D. Garp

The Hero of the Marines

The Marines boast many powerful fighters, but Garp is arguably the strongest. Even as an older man, he easily defeated Blackbeard’s crew, and in his prime, he was a force to be reckoned with during the era of Rocks. Garp was so incredibly strong back then that he made even Whitebeard, Kaido, and Big Mom retreat from a fight.

Whitebeard was incredibly strong, earning the title of “World’s Strongest Man” during his lifetime. He was already a powerful force during the era of the Rocks Pirates, possessing the immensely powerful Gura Gura no Mi Devil Fruit. Within the Rocks Pirates crew, only Rocks himself was considered more powerful than Whitebeard.

Figarland Garling

The Then Captain Of The Holy Knights

Figarland Garling recently became a Five Elder following Saint Saturn’s death. However, during the era of Rocks, he was simply a Captain of the Holy Knights.

Even though he wasn’t at his peak, Garling was already a formidable fighter. He’s leaving God Valley with the title of Champion, despite losing to Rocks. Everyone is excited to see what he’s capable of when he’s at his best.

The latest chapter of One Piece, number 1162, will be released this week, as usual on Sundays. While it becomes available in Japan at midnight on Monday (JST), most fans around the world will be able to read it on October 12th. The official release date is October 12, 2025, and it will be available to read for free on Manga Plus.
