This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Final Saga.
The enigmatic tale of “One Piece” continues to captivate audiences, with fans well aware that its most monumental mysteries are yet to be unveiled during the ongoing Final Saga. Oda has already hinted at intriguing aspects of the “One Piece” universe, particularly in the Elbaf arc where the world mural and even the Harley became major focal points in the author’s work.
Concurrently, Oda has been disclosing additional details about the One Piece world through SBS questions and other question-and-answer sessions. Lately, Oda has unveiled some major secrets of the One Piece world to the fans, which have made things incredibly thrilling.
Oda Reveals The One Piece Planet Is Called The Blue Planet
- The One Piece World Isn’t The Earth
- The One Piece Planet Has Multiple Satellites
Since fans caught their initial glimpse of the map representing the One Piece universe, they have been left curious about what specifically the name of this unique world is. After all, the world depicted in One Piece appears strikingly different from our familiar Earth. This One Piece world appears larger, but that’s not its only peculiarity. It is split into four sections and hosts some of the most enigmatic seas traversing it.
This is the time known as the Great Pirate Era! — Narrator of One Piece
It’s important to note that the world of One Piece differs significantly from our own Earth, as confirmed by its creator, Oda. In fact, he referred to it as the “Blue Planet” rather than Earth. Here’s a passage from his words emphasizing this point:
(The context of the original statement has been maintained for clarity)
Hi there! In Chapter 987, did the Roger Pirates along with Oden spot Tequila Wolf or Bourbon Wolf? And what is the name of the planet where Luffy and his crew have been on their adventure?
Or in a more conversational tone:
Hey Odacchi! Was it Tequila or Bourbon Wolf that the Roger Pirates and Oden saw in Chapter 987? And just curious, what’s the name of the planet Luffy and friends are exploring these days?EIICHIRO ODA: WOW! What’s this now? You’re zeroing in on that detail? FYI, our planet is known as the “Blue Planet.” And regarding the bridge Oden witnessed, it’s not called “Tequila Wolf.” Now I can’t reveal it’s actually “Bourbon Wolf,” but let’s just say it’s not “Tequila Wolf.” That’s all I’m sharing for now! Intriguingly, by Chapter 1125 we learn of four bridges in total. So how did I hint at this back in Chapter 967? Incredible.
It’s truly awe-inspiring to see all this, distinguishing the Blue Planet from our own Earth. Yet, what makes it even more mind-boggling is that the Blue Planet isn’t alone; it has several moons orbiting around it. Though fans may not know their names yet, according to the Ohara model, the moon we are familiar with is only one of them.
The Winged Races Came To The Blue Planet From The Moon
The Shandians, Skypieans, and Birkans Are Moon People

One Piece enthusiasts are well aware that the Blue Planet holds great importance within the show’s lore. Indeed, certain races in this universe hail from beyond our planet – they originate from outer space. Surprisingly, it turns out that the winged species found in One Piece actually have their origins on the moon. According to Oda, these celestial beings once inhabited the lunar city of Birka.
Upon depletion of their resources, they found themselves compelled to migrate towards what they reverently referred to as the “Blue Planet”. Diverse locations became their new homes; the Skypieans established themselves in the realm known as Skypiea, while the Birkans set up on a Sky Island they christened after the lunar city, Birka. The Shandians chose Jaya as their dwelling place, but as aficionados are aware, a cataclysmic event propelled them to Skypiea through a powerful upward current called Knock Up Stream.
In summary, all these mysteries revolve around the Blue Planet and its orbiting moons, and in the grand finale of the storyline, Oda promises to address each question definitively.
Exciting news for all One Piece fans! The next chapter will be released this week. Typically, new chapters come out on Sundays, but in Japan, they release at 12AM JST on Monday.
