In the world of One Piece, people have different abilities to help them survive the dangers of being a pirate or Marine. While many powerful characters use Devil Fruits, these powers become less dependable in the New World, the second half of the Grand Line. To overcome these challenges, individuals need even greater strength, which comes from Haki. Haki is a spiritual energy that everyone in the One Piece world possesses, but only some are able to unlock it.
Haki is generally categorized into two types: Observation Haki and Armament Haki. However, a very rare third type, Conqueror’s Haki (also called the Color of the Supreme King), exists – it’s found in only one in a million people. Because it’s so rare, Conqueror’s Haki is incredibly important in the final part of the One Piece story and is arguably the most dependable ability anyone can possess.

Conqueror’s Haki is unique compared to the other two types of Haki in the One Piece universe. Unlike the others, it’s something people are born with, though it still needs to be developed through training. It’s typically found in those with the natural traits of a leader, someone destined to rule – which explains why it’s called Conqueror’s Haki.
Conqueror’s Haki is essentially the ability to dominate opponents with sheer willpower and spiritual strength. People who possess it can either knock out weaker enemies or scare them into submission, giving them a significant advantage in a fight. It can also be used to control animals by asserting dominance, like when Luffy accidentally tamed Motobaro in the Sabaody Archipelago, and later easily tamed Tsurume on Fishman Island.
Unlike other types of Haki, you can’t directly train Conqueror’s Haki to make it more powerful. Instead, it gets stronger as the user themselves grows stronger overall. While you can’t directly train it, Conqueror’s Haki can be refined and used in advanced ways.
During the Wano Country arc, the author, Eiichiro Oda, revealed Advanced Conqueror’s Haki – a remarkably powerful ability. It’s used by the strongest pirates, like the Four Emperors, and Luffy unlocked it during his fight with Kaido. After enduring Kaido’s devastating attacks, Thunder Bagua and Ragnaraku, Luffy finally understood how to use this advanced form of Haki. Essentially, Advanced Conqueror’s Haki allows users to strengthen their bodies, similar to how Armament Haki works, significantly boosting their overall power.
The Powers Of Advanced Conqueror’s Haki
Offense, Defense, Observation Killing, Shockwaves
Conqueror’s Haki is often used by coating the body with it. Similar to Armament Haki, advanced Conqueror’s Haki significantly improves both attack and defense. It creates a strong protective armor that can block attacks, and also greatly increases the power of attacks by infusing them with spiritual energy and overwhelming force.
Advanced Conqueror’s Haki is incredibly strong – a single hit can knock out even the most powerful fighters. We’ve seen this happen multiple times, like when Kaido defeated Luffy with one attack infused with this Haki during their battle in Kuri. Similarly, Luffy later used a Conqueror’s Haki-enhanced attack, the White Star Gun, to briefly knock down and immobilize Kizaru.
Advanced Conqueror’s Haki Grants Immortality Counter
Image by Viz Media Beyond simply making fighters stronger, highly developed Conqueror’s Haki offers unique benefits, particularly in the story’s final arc where immortality and regeneration are key powers. To defeat characters like the Holy Knights, the Five Elders, and even Imu, who possess these abilities, advanced Conqueror’s Haki is essential. By infusing attacks with this Haki, one can suppress an opponent’s regeneration and overcome their immortality. According to Scopper Gaban, consistent attacks coated in powerful Conqueror’s Haki can completely disable immortals. If the Haki is strong enough, it can even negate the power of regeneration entirely, allowing an enemy to be defeated.
Advanced Conqueror’s Haki Can Kill Observation Haki
A highly advanced application of Conqueror’s Haki lets certain individuals effectively disable an opponent’s Observation Haki. Observation Haki normally allows someone to anticipate attacks, and even briefly see what’s coming. However, exceptionally strong Haki users like Shanks can disrupt an enemy’s focus, preventing them from using their Observation Haki, and even concealing their own presence. This makes them impossible to read, leaving opponents unable to defend against attacks. So far, only Shanks has demonstrated this incredibly powerful ability.
Advanced Conqueror’s Haki Application: Haki Shockwaves
A few incredibly powerful individuals, including Roger, Rocks, Shanks, and Garp, can use a special ability with Advanced Conqueror’s Haki. They can focus a massive amount of Haki and force to create a devastating shockwave that destroys everything in its path. Rocks D. Xebec was famous for this ability, and Roger later mastered it, developing a technique called Kamusari. Now, Shanks frequently uses this advanced Haki in battle, and may even be stronger with it than those before him. Currently, this is considered the most powerful offensive Haki ability, making it a truly frightening weapon. Rocks once effortlessly killed a Marine Admiral with it, and Shanks demonstrated its power by knocking out both Kid and Killer with a single sword swing.
The Masters Of Advanced Conqueror’s Haki
Shanks, Roger, Rocks Have Mastered Advanced Supreme King Haki
Image via Toei Animation. In One Piece, Oda has introduced several characters who are masters of Advanced Conqueror’s Haki. Currently, Rocks, Roger, Garp, and Shanks appear to be the most powerful users of this ability. Looking back at earlier generations, Joy Boy possessed incredibly strong Conqueror’s Haki – powerful enough to knock out Vice Admirals and seemingly overcome Imu’s abilities to heal and regenerate.
Honestly, as a One Piece fan, it’s pretty clear Shanks is the strongest Haki user right now. It’s not just about raw power, but how he uses it. He managed to defeat Loki – the guy who took down King Harald and was on par with Rocks – and he did it without even needing a Devil Fruit! What really sets him apart is the sheer variety of Haki he commands. And when it comes to advanced Conqueror’s Haki? Oda has made it super clear that Shanks is in a league of his own. He’s just on another level!
