One Piece: Arcs With The Most Consistently Great Battles

One Piece: Arcs With The Most Consistently Great Battles

As a long-time fanatic of One Piece, I must say that the Wano Country arc has undoubtedly left a lasting impression on me. The intense battles, captivating storyline, and stunning animation make it one of the best arcs to date, rivaling even the legendary Marineford arc. The simultaneous defeats of two Yonko Emperors have truly raised the stakes for our beloved Straw Hat Pirates and their allies.

The sprawling One Piece series features a multitude of compelling fights, ranging from mild skirmishes to intense showdowns. While some story arcs focus on a limited number of crucial battles, others delve into numerous conflicts as required. Notable arcs such as the Egghead Island arc and Marineford arc are particularly renowned for their endless series of battles.

Remarkably, as each arc unfolds with successive conflicts, it appears the significance only escalates further. With each major battle leading to another, viewers find themselves captivated, drawn in by the unyielding action and mounting suspense. The continuous delivery of top-notch battles within these arcs leaves viewers on the brink of anticipation, making them some of the most iconic arcs throughout the series.

7 Alabasta Arc

Straw Hats Vs. Baroque Works

  • Manga Chapters: 155-217, 63 chapters

In this storyline, Luffy experienced a significant battle against a powerful antagonist for the first time – Crocodile. The confrontation with Crocodile resulted in such heavy defeats that viewers of the series believe Luffy’s ultimate victory over Crocodile was more due to plot convenience rather than his abilities. Meanwhile, as Luffy was suffering losses, the rest of his crew members were engaging in combat with Crocodile’s criminal organization, Baroque Works.

In the numerous conflicts that took place in Alabasta, it wasn’t just about displaying power but rather a test of strategy and personal development. For instance, Zoro had to reach a new level of mastery to stand a chance against Mr. 1, eventually managing to slice through steel. Simultaneously, Nami and the rest of the team used their distinctive combat techniques against various opponents. All this unfolded as the Kingdom of Alabasta teetered on the edge of ruin.

6 Dressrosa Arc

Straw Hats And Heart Pirates Battle To Topple An Empire

  • Manga Chapters: 700-801, 102 chapters

For enthusiasts of the “One Piece” series, the Dressrosa saga often brings to mind the name Donquixote Doflamingo. This is particularly true following the unveiling of Gear Fourth, which showcased a thrilling confrontation between Luffy and Doflamingo. However, the Dressrosa arc isn’t just famous for Luffy’s battles; it’s also renowned for Zoro’s incredible feat of cleaving an island-sized Pica.

Battles like Law versus Doflamingo, Kyros versus Diamante, fights in the Colosseum Corrida, and particularly Sabo versus Fujitora, kept fans on the edge of their seats with anticipation and craving for more action. Joining forces with the Heart Pirates, the Straw Hat Pirates engaged in a struggle against the Donquixote family to reclaim Ace’s Devil Fruit and liberate Dressrosa from their control.

5 Marineford Arc

An All-Encompassing War

  • Manga Chapters: 550-580, 31 chapters

Without a doubt, the Marineford arc in the “One Piece” series stands among the greatest arcs, and for solid reasons. When it comes to nail-biting battles, Marineford was overflowing with them. The conflict between the Navy and the Whitebeard Pirates was so monumental that even the most prominent figures worldwide took notice.

In epic showdowns like Whitebeard versus Akainu, Luffy against Mihawk, and Marco battling multiple Navy Admirals, viewers were treated to a glimpse of diverse powers at work. The involvement of Navy Admirals, Warlords, and even Sea Emperors added fuel to the excitement as fans shifted their attention from one battle to another. This is one factor that makes the Marineford arc highly esteemed among fans.

4 Wano Country Arc

The Fall Of A Yonko Requires Many Battles

  • Manga Chapters: 909-1057, 149 chapters

In the Wano Country arc, we have Luffy facing off against Kaido, Law and Kid taking on Big Mom, Zoro battling King, and Sanji dueling Queen – these epic battles make the Wano Country arc truly stand out. With numerous battles happening all around, the Wano Country series has solidified its place among One Piece‘s finest arcs. In addition to the intense battles, the ongoing storyline and exceptional animation in this arc surpass anything that’s come before.

While some might argue that Marineford has a stronger overall narrative, when it comes to intense battles and visual spectacle, the Wano Country arc stands out as one of the series’ finest yet. To add to its appeal, this arc also depicts the downfall of not just one, but two Yonko (Emperors of the Sea), and these epic showdowns were beautifully animated and not left to our imaginations.

3 Egghead Island Arc

Simultaneous Era-Changing Battles

  • Manga Chapters: 1058 – Ongoing

In the manga, the Egghead Island storyline is wrapping up, but for those who only watch the anime, this thrilling chapter is just getting started. Similar to the Wano arc, the Egghead Island arc features significant battles; however, unlike Wano, these skirmishes involve multiple groups of people engaging simultaneously rather than one or more groups fighting against others.

In the midst of their respective confrontations, Law goes against Blackbeard, Garp takes on Aokiji, Luffy engages the five elders, and Shanks meets Captain Kid. The outcome of these clashes may vary, but given their significance within the One Piece universe, it’s safe to say that the world will be abuzz with excitement, and fans can hardly wait!

2 Enies Lobby Arc

Straw Hats Vs. CP9

  • Manga Chapters: 375-430, 56 chapters

One of the standout storylines in the series “One Piece” is the aftermath of Ohara’s destruction and Nico Robin’s past, which significantly impacted her crew. At first, she believed she had left her past behind; however, it returned to haunt her, ultimately dragging her team into its tumultuous events. Notably, this led to numerous intense battles and poignant moments that make up the Enies Lobby saga.

One standout aspect of the Enies Lobby arc is that it marked one of the first instances where the Straw Hat pirates demonstrated their capabilities. Throughout this arc, several crew members underwent significant growth in terms of their abilities. The combination of their accumulated experience, increased power, and honed skills reached a peak with Luffy’s Gear Second technique, which gave Rob Lucci quite a challenge.

1 Sabaody Arc

The Worst Generation Is Almost Wiped Out

  • Manga Chapters: 490-513, 24 chapters

In the grand tapestry of One Piece, my personal highlight has to be the moment I landed a punch on a Celestial Dragon during our escapade at the Sabaody Archipelago. But that’s not all! The arrival of the Worst Generation, squaring off against an Admiral, and the introduction of Dark King Rayleigh, the Pirate King’s right-hand man, marked the beginning of a thrilling adventure for us on this island paradise. It was the start of something big, something unforgettable!

Eventually, the Straw Hat pirates found themselves at a disadvantage in their numerous fights. Regardless if it was against Admiral Kizaru, Sentomaru, or the Pacifista, they were clearly outmatched. What made these battles particularly remarkable was how they subverted the common trope of Luffy emerging victorious against his foes.
