Following its return last week, One Piece delivered a powerful new chapter – 1173 – continuing the intense conflict in Elbaf. Last week’s chapter provided necessary background on the situation in the Sun World, setting the stage for the large-scale war against Imu’s forces. After a seven-month flashback, Oda needed to refresh readers on the current events. While the previous chapter served primarily as exposition, this week’s installment truly takes the story to the next level.

The situation in Elbaf is rapidly escalating! In One Piece chapter 1173, Zoro immediately jumped into the fight against the demons, and the Straw Hats were finally released. Now, Luffy and his crew are preparing to launch a massive attack against Imu, aiming to drive him and his army out of the country.

The first part of One Piece chapter 1173 focused heavily on Roronoa Zoro. This followed from the previous chapter, where Zoro hinted he had a plan, and now fans finally see what that plan is.

Zoro leaped between the giants, aiming to defeat them all. By fighting from above, he avoided being trapped between two already-fallen giants – a dangerous situation called Domi Reverse. This aerial attack allowed him to take down several of them. He then jumped even higher to include Dorry and Brogy in the fight.

Okay, so Zoro was instantly swarmed by Dorry and Brogy, these massive giants! They both came at him at once, but Zoro is just too quick – he dodged their attack perfectly. It was incredible! The whole demon army is thrown into chaos now, and this is our chance to finally get Jarul to safety. We’ve got to move fast!

It’s important to remember that these demons can’t be permanently defeated – they’re immortal and can heal from any injury. That’s why they can withstand so much damage; even when cut apart, characters like Dorry and Brogy quickly recover. Zoro’s current attacks aren’t meant to destroy them, but to stall for time, and he understands that. Later in the story, Dorry and Brogy will undoubtedly be a major threat and will require strong opponents to truly defeat them. Right now, though, the focus is on saving Jarul, as Dorry and Brogy intend to kill him. Zoro and his allies have finally reached the once-greatest warrior, and now they must protect him from danger.

Brook Finally Gets Through To Gunko

While Zoro was handling his own affairs, the rest of the Straw Hat crew also moved their stories forward. The previous chapter of One Piece hinted that Brook had escaped and was planning something, and chapter 1173 finally revealed what that plan was.

Brook managed to connect with Gunko, helping her rediscover who she truly was. Viewers witnessed Gunko battling for control, sometimes influenced by Imu, and other times acting on her own. It was then revealed that Gunko’s birth name is Princess Shuri, and she is the daughter of someone who greatly helped Brook, much like Shanks has helped Luffy.

Gunko ultimately killed her father, though the exact circumstances remain a mystery. It’s possible Imu was involved, considering his established control over her. He may have manipulated Gunko into committing the act, leading to her infamous title as the ‘father-killing princess’.

Imu is currently targeting Brook for interfering with his control over Gunko. This means Brook will need rescuing, and Sanji, who is already working to save the Straw Hat Pirates, might be the one to do it. Luckily, Brook’s actions allowed him to connect with Shuri, who then freed most of the Straw Hats from Gunko’s attacks. Only Nico Robin remains trapped in St. Sommers’ thorns, which will likely lead to a showdown between Sanji and Sommers as he tries to save her. Fans are eagerly anticipating how this rescue will unfold.

Saint Sommers Destroys Imu’s Main Plan

The Ship Meant To Transport Giant Children Has Been Destroyed

Saint Sommers played a key role in One Piece chapter 1173, but surprisingly, he helped the Giants and the Straw Hat Pirates instead of Imu. After Rodo, Gerd, and Goldberg defeated Killingham’s MMA, Sommers tried to intercept an attack aimed at it. However, he accidentally launched the MMA onto the ship meant to transport the children of Elbaf to Marijoa.

With the ship going down, the children of Elbaf are trapped, forcing Imu to change plans. Imu can no longer bring the giant children to the Holy Land, putting Sommers in a dangerous position. This could lead to Imu punishing Sommers directly, or it might uncover something even more troubling about Elbaf in the next chapter. Either way, the story is getting more intense, and fans are eager to see what happens with Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates next.

Okay, so it looks like things are going to build a little slowly for the next few chapters, and honestly, that’s totally understandable! It’s still too early for Oda to jump right into the big battles. There’s other stuff that needs to happen first to set everything up properly. For now, we’ll keep seeing all the craziness unfold in the Sun World, with Luffy and Loki still off the radar. It’s a bit of a wait, but I’m excited to see how it all comes together!
