One Piece: Character Reunions We Want To See

Over time, Eiichiro Oda has skillfully crafted numerous meaningful relationships that significantly impact the One Piece storyline. Despite relishing triumphs and enduring heartbreaks over my beloved characters, it’s the unfulfilled reunions that remain vivid in my memory.

The gatherings signify much more than mere joyous encounters, as the underlying strength that binds the narrative is the development and forging of deep connections among the characters, which transpired throughout their epic quest for the legendary treasure.

As the series nears its climactic bend, there are eagerly anticipated meet-ups that we’re on the edge of our seats for.

Yasopp And Usopp

A Reunion Between Father And Son

There was often a subtle sadness within me whenever I thought about Usopp’s relationship with his father. Yasopp departed prematurely, embarking on a journey with the red-headed pirates, and has since remained absent without any signs of return.

Usopp constructed his personal identity on the courage to adhere to his father’s legacy and transform into a valiant sea warrior. Despite being a habitual fabricator, Usopp has evolved into a reliable crew member of the Straw Hats. However, the prolonged absence from a parent creates an emptiness within him.

Since Usopp never mentions Yasopp, it’s possible he has found some sort of reconciliation over the issue. Regardless, I’m curious about his response when the time comes. Will he react with anger, tears, or perhaps a jest, as is his usual manner?

Luffy, Sabo, and Dadan

A Family Forged Without Blood

Sabo and Luffy grew up under the care of Dadan, who acted like a motherly figure towards them both. While Luffy eventually embarked on his journey as a pirate, which Dadan saw, the same wasn’t true for Sabo due to an unfortunate encounter with the Celestial Dragons that kept him from doing so.

As I gather with my brothers for this reunion, Ace’s absence will cast a heavy shadow. Regardless of the laughter and love that fill the air, there’s an emptiness that can’t be filled – the void left by our lost brother. This gathering, then, becomes not just about the joy of being together again, but also about reflecting on how much we’ve grown since our days in Foosha Village.

We want this reunion because Dadan deserves to see the men that her boys have become.

7.
Sanji and Pudding

The Forgotten Love

At first, the bond between Sanji and Pudding seemed to be a strategically arranged relationship by Big Mom and Vinsmoke Judge, yet as time went on, authentic feelings developed. Sanji looked past Pudding’s family-imposed facade and embraced her for who she truly is.

In a surprising turn of events, Sanji complimenting Pudding on her third eye temporarily counterbalanced a lifetime of scorn and dismissal she had experienced. Sharing their mutual wounds stemming from familial turmoil, they became an unanticipated comfort for each other.

Given that Blackbeard currently holds Pudding captive, it’s possible that Sanji could serve as a refuge for them should they cross paths again in the future. However, due to Sanji’s lost memories, their tale remains unfinished, and any potential reunion could provide an opportunity for a fresh start.

6.
Franky And The Franky Family

A Family Worth Returning To

In Water 7, Franky was a mischievous character who was part of a gang known as the Franky Gang. The loyalty and strong connection between the members of this gang towards Franky were evident when they confronted the World Government at Enies Lobby, knowing well that their actions would have severe repercussions.

After the incident with the world government, Franky found himself a fugitive, and his fellow Franky Family members implored Luffy and their crew to spirit him off the island of Water 7. While these characters from the Franky family may not stand out as much in the series, they played a crucial role in determining Franky’s destiny.

Franky’s meeting with them would serve as a means for him to reaffirm his connection to his heritage, as they are a part of him just as he is a part of them.

5.
Shanks And Luffy

Red Hair, Straw Hat, And An Unfinished Goodbye

Shanks, with his fiery red hair, inspired Luffy to embark on his pirate adventure, and more significantly, he handed over his straw hat to Luffy, implying that Luffy’s voyage was unique to him. The straw hat has symbolized Luffy’s growth and aspirations throughout his journey, and giving it back to Shanks marks the conclusion of one phase in his life and the start of another new one.

The intense impact of this reunion can be attributed to the years of patience that went into it following over a thousand episodes. Oda had the opportunity to introduce Shanks back into Luffy’s life at any given moment, but he chose not to. As such, each passing moment adds weight to the encounter, making it all the more significant and poignant.

A significant query arises as to whether their meeting will be marked by a warm embrace or a confrontation, given that Shanks too aims to seek the One Piece treasure.

4.
Zoro and Mihawk

The Duel Promised Years Ago

Throughout his journey to become the world’s finest swordsman, Zoro has had a longstanding association with Mihawk. In the span of two years, Zoro humbled himself, kneeled low, and beseeched Mihawk for training.

Despite Mihawk playing a significant role in Zoro’s remarkable development following the time skip, their encounter during the climactic arc could symbolize the meeting of paths that began long ago. It remains to be seen when we’ll witness Mihawk in action, but it seems plausible that the creator, Oda, has planned an epic showdown between him and Zoro – a battle that may finally reveal their true abilities.

Regardless of personal preference, Zoro’s ambition to become the best swordsman needs to come true, but Mihawk poses a significant obstacle on that path.

3.
Laboon and Brook

The Rumbar Pirate Reunion

For many years, Laboon longed for the return of the Rumbar pirates, whom they had left behind. They had promised to come back and visit them someday. However, when the Rumbar pirates failed to return from their voyage, Laboon suffered emotional pain due to the unfulfilled promise.

To Brook, Laboon represents the last vestige of his past life and the lingering connection to his former team. Essentially, due to Luffy putting the Straw Hat emblem on him and promising return, one could say that Laboon has become an unofficial member of the Straw Hats.

As a thrilled One Piece fan, it’s heartening to know that Brook, the last surviving member of the Rumbar Pirates, is now officially part of the Straw Hat crew. The impending reunion with Laboon promises an emotional high point in the series, and I am eagerly anticipating the poignant moment when they meet again.

2.
The Straw Hats And Vivi

A Promise Marked In Ink

Since Vivi joined the Straw Hats during the Alabasta arc, she wasn’t merely an ally; she became a beloved part of their crew. When she chose to remain in Alabasta, I couldn’t help but wonder if and when we would see her again with our crew.

Given her recent vanishing at Mariejois, enigmatic ties to Imu, and links to the D clan, it’s clear that she requires her crew more than ever before. An encounter with her Straw Hat comrades seems imminent. Vivi’s reunion with the Straw Hats symbolizes an unresolved bond, and despite their geographical distance, she remains a Straw Hat through and through.

1.
Luffy and Bon Clay

The Okama Way

Among the numerous companions of Monkey D. Luffy across the Grand Line, none stand out quite like Bon Clay. As a fan, I can’t help but remember him fondly, especially his selfless act within Impel Down’s cold walls. The absence of any subsequent appearances since then has left an aching void in my heart.

As a fervent admirer, I can’t help but reflect on my cherished memories at Impel Down. In a heart-stopping moment when Luffy tumbled to the ground, it was I who scooped him up and offered support. When Luffy hung precariously close to the edge of death, doubts swirled around us like a tempest, yet it was Bon Clay who stood tall, his spirit unbroken as he roared encouragement for Luffy’s resurgence.

Fast forward to the present, and lo and behold, Luffy stands triumphant as a Yonko, a testament to his indomitable will. This glorious journey of his is a tribute to Bon Clay’s selfless sacrifice—a beacon that continues to guide us through the stormy seas of our dreams.

The prospective gathering would symbolize the culmination of their shared experiences at Impel Down. Above all others, Bon Clay should witness the impressive figure Luffy has evolved into across the Grand Line.
