With each new challenge Luffy faces, my excitement grows as I ponder who among these formidable opponents could potentially surpass him in strength. Based on my extensive knowledge of the One Piece world, I believe that there are indeed several characters whose abilities far outstrip Luffy’s at this moment.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but marvel at the astounding transformation of Luffy from a mere small-time pirate in East Blue to one of the Sea Emperors and a major menace to the Government. Once an unrecognized figure, Luffy has now earned a place among the most formidable fighters. His power has grown exponentially, reaching new heights after his triumphant battle against Kaido in Wano.

The major source of his newfound strength lies in the activation of his Devil Fruit, enabling him to harness the abilities of Gear 5. In his Nika form, Luffy becomes nearly invincible. Nevertheless, there are some opponents who may surpass him.

5 Monkey D. Dragon

Luffy considers Dragon as his true father and a formidable figure. He holds a prominent position in the Revolutionary Army, necessitating immense strength. Fans attest that Sabo, Dragon’s number two, can engage in combat with an Admiral and maintain his ground. Consequently, Dragon should surpass the capabilities of an Admiral.

In addition, the fact that Dragon belongs to the Monkey D. lineage implies great capabilities within him. Much like Garp and Luffy, Dragon is expected to radiate power and master Haki exceptionally. It’s not an exaggeration to assume that Dragon’s strength is comparable to Luffy’s, considering they are father and son. Consequently, Dragon should be revered differently from Luffy due to their familial bond, potentially placing him on a level superior to his offspring.

Blackbeard has the ability to make Luffy’s Gear Five powerless permanently. His Gura Gura no Mi devil fruit can severely weaken or even eliminate Luffy during battle, particularly when he doesn’t have his Devil Fruit as a defense mechanism. Blackbeard is among the select individuals who can effectively challenge and defeat Nika for good.

3 Shanks

Although Luffy’s attacks may be lethal for most opponents, they hold no effect on the Elders. Consequently, Luffy risks exhaustion or death in his attempt to defeat them, making his victory uncertain.

Fans have only seen him transform into an unusual creature, but its true nature is a mystery. Imu’s power is immense, and we can look forward to learning more about it in the future of One Piece.

Currently, Luffy is not powerful enough to defeat Imu. Additionally, it’s expected that Imu will possess the same immortality as the Elders, making it difficult for Luffy to find a way to defeat him.
