One Piece Characters Who Can Beat Loki

The Elbaf arc is really popular with One Piece fans, largely because it introduces a ton of incredibly strong fighters. Eiichiro Oda revealed characters like Shamrock, Gunko, Sommers, Harald, Xebec, and many more. Most of these characters appear in flashbacks, but one is actually part of what’s happening in the present story.

This character is Loki, also known as the Accursed Prince of Elbaf. Not only does he have a striking appearance, but he’s also incredibly strong – a fitting trait, considering he’s the son of the late King Harald. As the story in Elbaf has progressed, it’s become clear that Loki isn’t just any fighter; he’s one of the most powerful characters in One Piece. Despite his strength, though, Loki isn’t unbeatable.

This post contains spoilers for One Piece.

Shanks

Affiliation: Red Hair Pirates

  • Haki: Yes
  • Devil Fruit: No

Shanks leads the Red Hair Pirates and is one of the most powerful pirates in the world, known as one of the Four Emperors. He showed incredible strength early in life, mastering a powerful technique called Divine Departure that combines two advanced types of Haki. Even after losing his arm, Shanks continued to grow stronger at a remarkable rate, unlike many others in the series.

Shanks proved his incredible strength by becoming one of the most powerful pirates in the world – an Emperor of the Sea – even after losing his arm. Many fans now consider him the strongest character in One Piece. He’s a master of all three types of Haki, and no one else seems to use them with such skill. It makes sense that he was able to easily stop Loki’s destructive behavior, and he might have even held back to avoid seriously injuring him.

Blackbeard

Affiliation: Blackbeard Pirates

  • Haki: Yes
  • Devil Fruit: Yami Yami no Mi, Gura Gura no Mi

Blackbeard is widely considered the most fearsome pirate in the world of One Piece. He’s incredibly clever and always plans ahead, only acting when it’s to his advantage. Despite his aggressive nature, he’s also remarkably patient, as demonstrated by his years spent waiting on Whitebeard’s ship for the opportunity to acquire a powerful Devil Fruit. After obtaining this fruit, he defeated Portgas D. Ace and delivered him to the World Government. He then went on to kill Whitebeard and steal another incredibly powerful Devil Fruit.

Watching Blackbeard rise to become one of the most powerful pirates, an Emperor of the Sea, isn’t really a surprise when you consider what he’s got going for him. He managed to get his hands on two incredibly strong Devil Fruits – the Yami Yami no Mi and the Gura Gura no Mi. On top of that, he’s skilled in Haki, which lets him defend against attacks. While Loki is a really capable fighter, I just don’t see him being able to beat someone like Blackbeard.

Gol D. Roger

Affiliation: Roger Pirates

  • Haki: Yes
  • Devil Fruit: No

Gol D. Roger was the original Pirate King. He achieved this title by discovering the legendary treasure, the One Piece, at Laugh Tale. Roger wasn’t afraid of a fight – he actively sought out danger, thriving on the thrill of it.

Roger was incredibly fearless in battle thanks to his immense, natural strength. Unlike many powerful pirates, he didn’t rely on a Devil Fruit; his power came entirely from Haki. Through countless fights, he mastered his Haki, pushing its abilities to the absolute limit. Watching Roger fight would have been amazing, but the outcome was always the same: victory for the Pirate King.

Imu

Affiliation: World Government

  • Haki: Yes
  • Devil Fruit: Multiple

Imu is the true leader of the World Government, controlling everything they do. They operate in secret, using the Five Elders as a front to give commands. Because of this, almost no one knows Imu exists, and even fewer have any idea how powerful they are.

Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, intentionally kept Imu’s identity and powers a secret from fans. This changed during the Elbaf arc when Imu possessed Gunko’s body. Dissatisfied with the Holy Knights, Imu decided to intervene directly, revealing the ability to transform people into demons and control them.

Imu is effectively immortal and can heal from any injury. They uniquely can use the powers of multiple Devil Fruits without harm, and are also incredibly strong with Conqueror’s Haki. While the full extent of Imu’s powers is still a mystery, they are powerful enough to defeat Loki even without using them.

Monkey D. Garp

Affiliation: Marines, World Government

  • Haki: Yes
  • Devil Fruit: No

I’ve seen a lot of strong people in my time, but Monkey D. Garp is truly something else. He’s one of the last remaining from the same generation as Xebec, and still going strong. It’s hard to believe he single-handedly defeated the famed Hero of the Marines! Back in his prime, Garp could go toe-to-toe with legends like Gol D. Roger, Whitebeard, Shiki, and even Big Mom – and none of them could beat him. What’s even more incredible is that, even now, nobody has ever managed to defeat him in a one-on-one fight. It really shows just how powerful he is.

Loki is a strong fighter, but he’d likely lose against Garp. Garp has mastered all forms of Haki and is incredibly physically strong – far beyond a normal human. This combination of skills is why Garp remained undefeated for so long.
