One Piece Characters Who Pose The Biggest Threat To Imu

Imu is the hidden ruler of the World Government, seated on the Empty Throne. They’ve lived for centuries and are essentially immortal, giving them an incredible understanding of the world’s history and events.

Imu’s long life has given them the opportunity to identify and eliminate opponents. This means Imu is likely responsible for the deaths of several key figures in the world of One Piece. Despite removing these threats, new enemies consistently emerge. Currently, a number of powerful One Piece characters actively oppose Imu and could potentially defeat them.

This post contains spoilers for One Piece.

Shirahoshi

Affiliation: Fish-Man Island

  • Can control Sea Kings

Shirahoshi is the princess of the Ryugu Kingdom, and she’s a mermaid unlike any other. She’s much larger than the typical mermaid found on Fish-Man Island, making her instantly noticeable. But what’s truly incredible about Shirahoshi is that she’s actually Poseidon, a legendary and incredibly powerful weapon.

Shirahoshi possessed a powerful ability passed down from her family, but she couldn’t master it until the Straw Hat Pirates arrived at Fish-Man Island. Shortly after, they battled a dangerous group led by Davy Jones and Van Der Decken, along with the New Fish-Man Pirates, who were trying to overthrow the island’s rulers. This group even planned to use the massive ship, Noah, to destroy the island if their takeover failed. Luckily, Shirahoshi learned to control her powers and summoned enormous Sea Kings, stopping Noah from crashing into and destroying Fish-Man Island.

Shirahoshi’s ability to command Sea Kings is a serious danger to Imu and the World Government, which is why Imu wants her eliminated. It’s also worth noting that the previous user of this power, Poseidon, had made an agreement with Joyboy – another figure Imu clearly dislikes. Considering everything, it’s very likely Imu will soon send someone to take care of Shirahoshi.

Monkey D. Dragon

Affiliation: Revolutionary Army

  • Leading a revolution to upend the tyranny of World Nobles

Monkey D. Dragon began his career as a Marine, but the events he witnessed at God Valley deeply disturbed him, leading him to openly oppose the World Government. After his initial attempts at resistance with the Freedom Fighters didn’t succeed, he established the Revolutionary Army, which has now become the World Government’s greatest challenge.

Dragon is the supreme commander of the Revolutionary Army, giving him total control and decision-making power. Thanks to his strong leadership, the army has successfully overthrown numerous oppressive governments. Following the events on Egghead, Dragon’s influence likely grew, attracting even more supporters to his cause. While Imu hasn’t officially declared war on Dragon yet, it’s only a matter of time before they’re forced to directly confront him and the Revolutionary Army.

Monkey D. Luffy

Affiliation: Straw Hat Pirates

  • Wants to claim the One Piece

Monkey D. Luffy leads the Straw Hat Pirates and is now recognized as one of the most powerful pirates in the world, known as a Yonko. He started as a relatively unknown and inexperienced pirate with big dreams of becoming King of the Pirates. At first, people dismissed the thin boy with the unusual ability to stretch like rubber. However, it quickly became apparent that the World Government would soon have to take him seriously.

Luffy defeated several powerful leaders known as the Shichibukai, but the World Government attempted to hide this. Despite their efforts, news of Luffy’s strength spread, and he became one of the strongest fighters in the One Piece world, capable of battling almost anyone. This makes him a potential threat to Imu, who was even shown with a wanted poster of Luffy in Marijoa, suggesting he’s being closely watched. Furthermore, Luffy’s mysterious lineage, marked by the ‘D’ in his name, adds to the danger he poses to Imu.

Blackbeard

Affiliation: Blackbeard Pirates

  • Wants to become the king of the world

Marshall D. Teach, most famously known as Blackbeard, is the leader of the Blackbeard Pirates and a major villain in the One Piece story. Similar to Luffy, Blackbeard quickly gained power and recognition. He initially became one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea by turning in Ace to the Marines, and later became one of the Four Emperors by defeating what was left of the Whitebeard Pirates.

Blackbeard is a fiercely determined and powerful individual, constantly striving to increase his influence. He’s a careful planner, only acting when everything is perfectly in place. Beyond his incredible strength, Blackbeard possesses the power of two rare Devil Fruits, capable of destroying entire islands. However, his most dangerous trait is his ancestry. He’s a descendant of the legendary Davy D. Jones, who may be the true ruler of the world – a fact that enraged Imu when revealed by Xebec. Like Xebec, Blackbeard also appears to be aiming to become the king of the world.

Shanks

Affiliation: Red Hair Pirates

  • Wants to claim the One Piece and is aware of Imu’s existence

Shanks is the son of Figarland Garling, who currently leads the fields of Science and Defense. However, Shanks strongly dislikes the Celestial Dragons and the World Government. He’s a very influential and powerful person, earning both the respect and fear of those around him.

Shanks is incredibly powerful, likely rivaled by only a handful of individuals. As one of the Four Emperors, he possesses exceptional Haki control, which could allow him to overcome the defenses of even the seemingly immortal Holy Knights and potentially Imu himself. This makes Shanks a significant threat to Imu, and he should be considered as such.
