This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Final Saga
Over time, readers of One Piece have been introduced to numerous thrilling characters penned by the author, Oda. These range from kind-hearted heroes to formidable villains. It’s crucial to note that a series needs compelling villains to truly thrive. Oda has created some remarkable antagonists throughout the years, many of whom have left lasting impressions on fans. For instance, Katakuri displayed honor in battle and earned a special place among the fans’ hearts.
Characters like Doflamingo were embodiments of evil, yet their captivating charm and merciless demeanor drew fans towards them. Similarly, the sly cunningness of Crocodile captured hearts during the Alabasta Arc, and his enduring popularity since then underscores his high favor among both readers and the author. In recent chapters of One Piece, we’ve seen a lot more of Crocodile, who, being one of the former Warlords of the Sea, possesses immense power. His significant role in the story also adds to his appeal. It’s not surprising then, given his importance in the Final Saga, that Crocodile has received a power boost. Now it’s officially confirmed that he has significantly enhanced, particularly with respect to a unique ability.
Crocodile’s Strength Before The Timeskip
User Of The Suna Suna no Mi
Initially in the series, Crocodile was renowned as a formidable pirate. This was particularly evident when Luffy embarked on his journey across the Grand Line, with Crocodile being the first significant adversary capable of pushing Luffy to his limits. Their encounters were during the Alabasta Arc, where it became apparent that Crocodile held an immense power advantage over Luffy on all three instances. Without assistance, it’s safe to say that Luffy would have met his end in the land of Arabasta, highlighting the deadly nature of Crocodile at that time. Notably, this was before he had mastered abilities like Devil Fruit Awakening or Haki. Later, Crocodile was defeated by Luffy and imprisoned in Impel Down. Upon Luffy’s release from Impel Down, it’s clear that Crocodile’s power had grown significantly.
Long time no see, Straw Hat! – Crocodile
In the Paramount War, Crocodile stood out as a formidable force, engaging in battles against heavyweights such as Mihawk, Akainu, and Doflamingo, to name a few. His power remained sharp, and his desire to venture into the New World suggested he was up for greater tests. Crocodile’s determination seems indomitable, making it intriguing to watch how his character develops as the story progresses. The transformation of Crocodile, from the leader of Baroque Works with a goal to annihilate a nation for the acquisition of the ancient weapon Pluton, to an underworld agent in the New World, is captivating. Fans are eagerly waiting to see more of this intriguing journey in One Piece, especially now that he’s associated with the Cross Guild.
How Crocodile Strengthened After The Timeskip
Crocodile Gained A Very High Bounty After The Timeskip
Just prior to the time jump, fans witnessed Crocodile perusing news about Luffy and the Paramount War. Subsequently, he sought out Mr One, also known as Daz Bones, to join him in the New World. This action suggested that Crocodile was determined not to abandon his aspirations, promptly setting sail towards the ocean immediately thereafter.
I’m planning on returning to the good old New World. Wanna join me, Mr. 1? – Crocodile
During most of the story, Oda concealed much of Crocodile’s power. But when Oda unveiled the rewards of the Cross Guild members after the timeskip, readers could see clearly how Crocodile had grown in might and notoriety. It turned out that Crocodile’s new bounty was an astounding 1.965 billion berries, a significant jump from his initial bounty of 80 million berries.
Many fans were taken aback by this revelation, as it strongly suggests that he is currently among the most powerful pirates in the New World. To help you grasp the magnitude of this power, consider Blackbeard, who held a bounty of 2.246 billion berries. With such a high bounty, Blackbeard was an Emperor, and Crocodile’s proximity to that rank serves as a testament to his dangerous prowess as a pirate.
Crocodile Confirmed To Be A User Of Haki
Crocodile Has Awakened Both Armament And Observation Haki
Now, Crocodile has been confirmed to be a user Observation and Armament Haki. Fans know him to be incredibly powerful with his Devil Fruit usage, and, with Haki, he’s now on an entirely different level. Crocodile only has two types of Haki, but both of them should be enough to see him reach the top. This official confirmation came from the Vivre Card, which was recently released, and it shows how strong Crocodile truly is. Naturally, having confirmation is a good thing, but fans are not too surprised by it. Any pirate having a nearly 2 billion berry bounty should have Haki, as that is the bare minimum in the New World. When this is coupled with the fact that Crocodile has potentially awakened his Devil Fruit, one can then see how strong he truly is.
Crocodile could easily be one of the strongest characters in One Piece, and Oda has been alluding to it all this time. With the Final Saga of One Piece now officially underway, Crocodile, and by extension, the Cross Guild, is going to have a massive role to play. As this incredible saga continues, Crocodile will have plenty of opportunities to showcase his true strength. Fans will get to see him fight once again soon, utilizing his newly acquired Haki types, and, potentially Devil Fruit awakening as well.
Readers should simply relax and anticipate the spectacular performance that Crocodile has prepared for later on in the narrative. He’s widely recognized as One Piece’s most clever antagonist, and it’s high time he demonstrated why he is so unique. We can only hope that the events surrounding Elbaf will provide an opportunity for him to make his presence felt somehow.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m always on the lookout for great content, and one of my favorites is the epic saga of “One Piece.” Lucky for us fans, we can officially read it for free through Viz Media on platforms like Shonen Jump and Manga Plus app. The next chapter, One Piece 1124, is dropping on August 25, 2024 – mark your calendars!
