One Piece: Devil Fruits Are Great, But This Haki Type Can Counter Them All

This article contains spoilers for the One Piece manga.

Summary

  • Logia devil fruits are hard to counter without Haki.
  • Armament Haki can negate devil fruit abilities.
  • Conqueror’s Haki is the ultimate counter to devil fruits.

In the captivating world of “One Piece,” Haki stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Devil Fruits, creating an exceptional power dynamic. Characters exhibit varying degrees of mastery over different types of Haki, while some Devil Fruits are extraordinarily potent. Oda skillfully weaves both Devil Fruits and Haki into the narrative, emphasizing their significance to the storyline. Yet, it’s Haki that serves as the decisive weapon against any power granted by a Devil Fruit. As we approach “One Piece’s” climactic Final Saga, Haki is expected to play a pivotal role.

The Power of Devil Fruits In One Piece

Logia Are The Hardest To Counter Without Haki

In the narrative of One Piece, the abilities granted by Devil Fruits play a crucial role. Throughout the series, numerous Devil Fruits have been introduced, with many more still unrevealed. These powers can be categorized into three primary types: Paramecia, Zoan, and Logia. Each of these categories also includes several subcategories. For instance, Special Paramecia is a category within the Paramecia type, and Zoans can be either Mythical or Ancient. At present, Logias are the only type without any known subtypes.

In the world of One Piece, Devil Fruits initially served as the primary source of power. However, the introduction of Haki brought about a significant change, for it provided characters with a means to combat Devil Fruits. Sometimes, these powers can be tricky or even impossible to challenge without the use of Haki.

In the past, before Haki was fully understood, Luffy often encountered Logia Devil Fruit users in battles. These weren’t simple fights. To defeat Crocodile, who had a water-based Devil Fruit power, Luffy needed a natural counter. Fortunately for him, he was already the natural counter to Enel’s lightning ability.

The Haki Types That Can Counter Devil Fruits

Armament Haki Is Good, But There’s A Stronger Type

In the world of One Piece, created by Oda, there are two main forms of Haki: Armament and Observation. While Observation Haki isn’t particularly effective against Devil Fruits, Armament Haki can prove quite beneficial.

This ability might enable characters to successfully strike users of Logia, Paramecia, and Zoan Devil Fruits, as some of these powers provide a form of protection. However, it’s important to note that Armament Haki has other methods to counteract the effects of Devil Fruits as well.

Ah, you know, it’s fascinating how Armament Haki can completely nullify the powers of a Devil Fruit in the series! Take the raid on Onigashima in Wano for instance. Poor Trafalgar Law, with his Ope Ope no Mi, was unable to teleport Big Mom or Kaido because their Haki overpowered it! It’s just incredible, isn’t it?

In addition, Trafalgar Law employed Armament Haki when confronted by Blackbeard’s crew, and was transformed into a woman by Doc Q. However, he managed to revert back to his original form using his Haki. Moreover, his Haki also restored his crew to their normal state, demonstrating complete negation of Devil Fruits.

Although Armament Haki is powerful, it’s not the most effective against Devil Fruit powers. However, there’s a rare type of Haki that reigns supreme, but its users are relatively scarce.

Conqueror’s Haki is The Ultimate Counter To Devil Fruit Abilities

A previously underestimated force against Devil Fruits has been revealed as Conqueror’s Haki. Up until now in the narrative, viewers may not have fully grasped the full extent of Conqueror’s Haki’s power. Initially, it was often depicted as a means to subdue weaker adversaries or create a split in the sky when two users clashed.

The Wano Arc and the Final Saga have expanded significantly on the powers of Conqueror’s Haki, leaving much yet to be discovered by fans. However, through these stories, we’ve gained a clearer understanding of its potential uses.

In simpler terms, when discussing the Conqueror’s Haki ability, there is a higher level that Luffy accessed during the Wano arc, often referred to as “Advanced Conqueror’s Haki Fusion” or “Conqueror’s Haki Enhancement.” This advanced form of Conqueror’s Haki gives Luffy even more power and control over his opponents.

In the Egghead arc of One Piece, Joy Boy demonstrated the extraordinary power of Advanced Conqueror’s Haki when he used it to counteract Devil Fruits. During this storyline, the Five Elders, who possess immense power and are even immortal, appeared on Egghead through a summoning circle called the Abyss. Joy Boy’s companion robot, Emet, released Conqueror’s Haki that he had stored from a previous encounter, sending them all back to Marijoa and eliminating the Abyss. This impressive use of Conqueror’s Haki stands as the most remarkable feat in all of One Piece, showcasing the full potential this ability can reach when mastered.
