As a long-time fan of One Piece, I must say that the bond between Luffy and Zoro is truly something special. Their camaraderie, tested time and again, stands as a testament to their unwavering loyalty towards each other. The scene where Zoro willingly took on Luffy’s pain during the Thriller Bark arc was nothing short of breathtaking. It showcased not just Zoro’s bravery but also his deep-rooted commitment to his captain, a moment that echoed Sanji’s selfless act in Alabasta.

Since the inception of my journey with the Straw Hat Pirates in the enchanting realm of One Piece, we’ve embarked on an endless series of thrilling escapades to uncharted lands brimming with magic and wonder. In these journeys, we’ve encountered mysteries that have the potential to reshape our world, and powerful adversaries whose abilities challenge the very fabric of reality!

Throughout their journeys, the crew members of One Piece have experienced some unforgettable, emotionally charged moments that have left lasting impressions on fans. Many of these moments are intrinsically linked to the characters themselves, making them a significant part of their identities. In this article, we’ll delve into the most memorable instances from each member of the Straw Hat Pirates in One Piece.

Brook Steals Big Mom’s Poneglyphs

Story Arc: Wholecake Island

From the moment Brook entered the plot, he swiftly won over many hearts with his comical demeanor. Regrettably, his tenure with the group was brief, ending at the Sabaody Archipelago where they were dismantled. However, following a time jump, his significance within the crew and the narrative escalated significantly. This was especially evident on Wholecake Island.

In this storyline, Brook was specifically assigned the challenging task of obtaining the etchings from Big Mom’s Road Poneglyph hidden within her treasure room while others were preoccupied. Although Pedro lent a hand, Brook essentially went it alone when it came to taking the rubbings. Surprisingly, many believed he had failed in his mission; however, unbeknownst to them, Brook successfully collected the Poneglyph rubbings and secreted them away inside his skull!

Nami Asks Luffy To Help Her

Story Arc: Arlong Park

Among the Straw Hat pirate group, Nami occupies a unique position next to Luffy, sharing a significant bond. While she aided against Buggy during the Orange Town saga, an important aspect of Nami’s backstory involves her betraying her original crew due to financial obligations she had with the Arlong Pirates, who appointed her as their navigator. However, it was later uncovered that Arlong never truly planned on freeing Nami or her village.

Overwhelmed and distraught, Nami started to fall apart, carving the section of her arm bearing the tattoo symbolizing her membership in the Arlong Pirates. Eventually, Luffy intervened, causing Nami to appeal to him for aid – a pivotal scene that stands out among others in the series for its poignancy rather than spectacle. Though not as thrilling or high-energy as other scenes, it offers a profound glimpse into Luffy’s character and adds depth to Nami’s persona, making her more relatable than ever before!

Franky Burns The Pluton Blueprints

Story Arc: Enies Lobby-Water 7

In the Water 7 saga, Franky was initially portrayed as a villain who gained considerable wealth from the Straw Hat Pirates. However, he later joined their ranks, assuming the crucial role of shipwright responsible for maintaining the ship in top condition at all times. Throughout the narrative, Franky has left indelible marks, including constructing the Thousand Sunny and his epic battle against Señor Pink.

However, his best moment must go to the time when he burnt the blueprints for Pluton in front of CP9. The context is what makes this moment amazing though, since the World Government knew of the Ancient Weapons and needed their own to stand a chance should Pluton ever be found. After locating the blueprints the ancient shipwrights of Water 7 used to make the ship, they were horrified to find them in Franky’s possession, who proceeded to burn them, singlehandedly stopping the World Government’s ambitions for such a powerful weapon!

Jinbei’s Speech To Luffy

Story Arc: Post-Marineford

Originally, Jinbei was the final among the original Seven Sea Warlords to appear, and he was the one who released Arlong into the East Blue. Because of this, his image was always portrayed as extremely dangerous. However, fans were pleasantly surprised when they encountered Jinbei later in the series, as he turned out to be one of the kindest and most helpful characters throughout the entire storyline.

Among many admirable instances, Jinbei’s speech to Luffy following Marineford stands out as particularly noteworthy. When Luffy was at his most downtrodden, Jinbei urged him to concentrate on the things he still possesses instead of dwelling on what he has lost. It’s evident that without Jinbei, Luffy might not have emerged from such a bleak state!

Robin Unlocks A Demonic Power

Story Arc: Wano

Robin’s defining “I desire to live” scene from the Enies Lobby storyline continues to be the most memorable for her character, highlighting her evolution in thoughts and attitudes over time. Yet, among all her developments, her stunning demonstration of Demonio Fleurs skill in the Wano arc stands out as her peak performance, particularly because it represents one of the rare instances where Robin truly showcased her offensive prowess.

As the archaeologist on the team with a focus on historical research, she became one of the pivotal characters during the Wano arc. Additionally, Sanji’s role shone brightly in this storyline as he placed his faith in Robin to handle the formidable adversary Black Maria. Impressively, Robin demonstrated an unexpected and astonishing talent that appeared to transform her into a colossal demon!

Chopper Saves Everyone At Onigashima

Story Arc: Wano

In simpler terms, Chopper, the doctor among the Straw Hat crew, is less about causing harm but focuses more on healing. Though he’s got fighting skills, as evidenced throughout the series, especially when his Monster Point put up a good fight against Big Mom and Queen, it’s his medical expertise that truly makes him an irreplaceable crew member and one of the world’s top-notch doctors!

Despite frequently using his medical skills to save people on various arcs, Chopper’s most remarkable moment occurred when he cured the Queen’s Ice Oni virus at Onighashima. This heroic act was so impressive that Zoro recognized it as a miracle. In a brief span of time, Chopper managed to devise a cure that not only saved his friends but also enemies, all while being only partially immune to the virus himself!

Usopp Awaken’s Observation Haki

Story Arc: Dressrosa

In a team like the Straw Hats, brimming with heavyweights, it’s effortless to overlook Usopp. Yet, it was Usopp who played a crucial role in preventing their defeat during the Dressrosa saga! Though there are speculations about Usopp’s significant part in the upcoming Elbaf arc, his indispensable position within the crew was evident even before that, as he almost single-handedly dismantled Doflamingo’s entire empire in Dressrosa!

At a critical moment, the situation seemed grim for the heroes as Sugar regained consciousness and approached the powerless Luffy and Law. Just when all hope seemed lost, from afar and from a lower vantage point, Usopp activated his dormant Observation Haki. This enabled him to precisely shoot her with an improvised bullet made of his own face from such a distance, causing her shock and effectively saving the day. In that moment, Usopp truly embodied his ‘God’ title!

Sanji Thanks Enel

Story Arc: Skypiea

Many fans believe that Sanji is the best-written Straw Hat pirate of them all, and it is pretty tough to argue against that. This is because the Wholecake Island arc showed his backstory and explained why he is the way he is. This backstory is one of the saddest in the entire series but it also puts Sanji’s entire journey into perspective, and while he has many incredible moments, such as his fight with Queen and when he explains how there are things that Usopp can do that he can’t, his iconic pose in the Skypiea arc takes the cake.

Following their pursuit of Luffy in battle, Usopp and I found ourselves encountering our toughest foe yet – Enel. When Enel unleashed a powerful lightning bolt at Sanji, spectators braced for the worst. Yet, what unfolded was one of the most memorable scenes in One Piece lore: A battered and bruised Sanji, amidst the smoke, thanked Enel for lighting his cigarette!

Zoro Takes Luffy’s Pain

Story Arc: Thriller Bark

Despite each Straw Hat crew member being fiercely loyal to Luffy, Zoro holds a unique connection with him as he was the very first to join his team. This special bond has led Zoro to prioritize Luffy’s dream of becoming the Pirate King alongside his own ambition of becoming the world’s best swordsman. He views this duty as ensuring his captain ascends to the title of King of the Pirates. As a result, Zoro’s loyalty toward Luffy was severely tested during the Thriller Bark arc when Kuma arrived.

Following years of tireless struggle, Luffy endures immense agony that came close to claiming his life. Here, Kuma mentions he could alleviate this pain, yet it would still require a destination, to which Zoro proposes his own body as the location for the pain to dwell. This pain is so overwhelming that even a small amount induces severe tremors in Zoro. After learning about this, Sanji searches for Zoro, standing alone, having taken not only his own pain but also Luffy’s, barely surviving the ordeal yet still standing tall. In response to Sanji’s questioning about what transpired between him and Kuma, Zoro dismisses it casually with a simple ‘nothing.’

Luffy Awakens Nika

Story Arc: Wano

Over time in the series, viewers gradually discovered hints suggesting Luffy was unique. In the Wano arc, for the first time, Luffy battled one of the Sea Emperors but lost four times, a situation fans perceived as plot armor due to Kaido’s overwhelming strength. After his final defeat and apparent death, it turned out that the event triggered his Devil Fruit to awaken, unveiling to everyone that the Gomu Gomu no Mi was actually the Mythical Zoan Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika!

This reveal shattered the foundations of everything the fans had been following since the One Piece story began, as Luffy’s fun and silly Devil Fruit had, in truth, always been a fruit that gave the user godlike abilities and was the same one to have spread laughter and freedom across the world all those centuries ago. After finally awakening the true power of his Devil Fruit, Luffy proceeded to defeat Kaido very easily, showing exactly why the Nika fruit was the one Joyboy used in the Void Century!
