After the time skip, Zoro only had one eye, and surprisingly, none of the Straw Hat crew ever asked him about it, nor has the author, Oda, ever explained what happened. However, Oda actually revealed the reason for this in the manga some time ago.

Oda actually told his mentor, Watsuki, years ago, when One Piece first started, that Zoro would eventually lose the sight in one eye.

In 2021, Watsuki once more inquired about the meaning of Zoro’s covered left eye, but Oda remained tight-lipped, suggesting a significant explanation is being kept secret.

He even briefly transformed into a six-armed figure, now known as Asura, which the author, Eiichiro Oda, officially identifies as a demon god.

Whenever Zoro accesses his inner darkness, his left eye glows. This strongly suggests a connection, and it’s reasonable to believe his left eye contains some kind of demonic power.

It’s clear that Zoro closing his left eye will be a significant advantage when he battles Mihawk. Eventually, Zoro will unlock a powerful inner strength, and mastering it will make him incredibly strong. Many fans believe this eye will be key to the fight against Mihawk, and Zoro will utilize it when the time comes.
