This post contains spoilers for One Piece.
In simple terms, Episode 1139 of One Piece signaled the initiation of the assault on Egghead Island. Following the conclusion of Bartholomew Kuma’s backstory, the narrative transitioned to the present day, where Saint Jaygarcia Saturn is orchestrating a destructive plan against Vegapunk and the Straw Hats on Egghead Island.
At first, it appeared that Saturn was satisfied with merely eliminating Vegapunk and the satellites, but Kuma’s act of defiance seems to have provoked the Deity of Defense and Scientific Research.
The Egghead Island Buster Call Begins
Episode 1139 of One Piece was well-received, but it was the updated opening sequence that grabbed most of the attention. Some viewers were disappointed with the opening because it revealed details about the Egghead Island Arc ahead of time, which non-manga readers were advised to anticipate. Opinions are split on this new intro, but everyone seems to agree that its visuals are stunning and awe-inspiring.
Revoke the order, St. Saturn. —Vegapunk
In reference to the specific incident, Saint Jaygarcia Saturn initiated the Buster Call, causing complete pandemonium on Egghead Island. Vegapunk pleaded with Saturn to reconsider his actions, arguing that the island’s destruction would significantly delay human scientific progress by at least a century. Nevertheless, Saturn seemed unfazed by this potential setback, especially given that the World Government had been concealing information about the Void Century.
Despite Vegapunk willing to sacrifice his life for the island’s protection and Saturn remaining unsatisfied yet again, the Buster Call was initiated. The bombardment aimed at Egghead Island’s cityscape, affecting both the stranded Marines and various structures. Saturn commanded Kizaru to execute Vegapunk, causing the Admiral immense distress due to his longstanding friendship with him. To stall the situation, Kizaru pursued a capsule containing Atlas, Bonney, Franky, and Kuma. Using his light sword, he severed the tube, sending the capsule soaring into the sky. In response, Saturn ordered the Pacifista to attack Bonney, but swiftly, Kuma shielded her, demonstrating the deep affection he holds for her.
