Wow, the newest One Piece episode was incredible! There was this amazing scene with Jewelry Bonney where she used her Distorted Future power to actually become Nika and go after Saint Jaygarcia Saturn. It was so powerful because Saturn is the one who completely destroyed Bonney’s family and everything she’s been through – it all made sense in that moment!

Saturn subjected Ginny to experimentation, which led to her contracting the Sapphire Scale Disease and ultimately her death. Sadly, the disease was then passed on to Bonney. Devastated by Bonney’s illness, Kuma devoted his life to finding a cure. When he discovered Vegapunk might be able to help, he journeyed to Egghead Island. Vegapunk agreed to assist, but only if Kuma participated in some experiments. Once again, Saturn interfered, presenting Kuma with three requirements he had to meet.

Kuma cared for Bonney deeply and sacrificed everything – even his own humanity – to help her. She didn’t discover the extent of his sacrifice until much later, which made her attack on Saturn incredibly cathartic. That punch was fueled by years of bottled-up trauma, anger, and pain, and the One Piece anime portrayed it perfectly. Still, Bonney needs to remain vigilant, because the Five Elders are all immortal.

The Buildup To Joyboy’s Reveal

In episode 1152, Emet spoke with Luffy, referring to him as Joyboy. Luffy didn’t recognize the name, but was glad Emet was an ally. Interestingly, only Luffy could hear Emet – a result of his ability to use the Voice of All Things.

Thanks to this skill, Luffy could understand what Emet was trying to do. Because Emet was battling the Five Elders, it allowed the Straw Hats and the giants to escape safely. His efforts were crucial for their survival.

Beyond the exciting fight with Emet and Bonney, the episode featured a truly heartbreaking scene: Atlas gave her life to protect the Straw Hats from Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro. Her sacrifice was essential for their escape, and without it, they would have been captured and likely destroyed.
