One Piece Episode 1156 Confirms The Fate Of Monkey D. Garp

Episode 1156 of One Piece kicked off a long-awaited new journey for the Straw Hat Pirates. Trapped in a dangerous situation on Egghead Island, they were finally able to find a way out thanks to help from Emet.

Okay, so the Straw Hats didn’t get all of Vegapunk’s satellites back, but they did manage to save Lilith, which was awesome! But honestly, this latest episode was HUGE because it wasn’t just about them. We got a look at what’s going on all over the world of One Piece, and the biggest thing? Blackbeard is back on Hachinosu! I’m so hyped to see what happens next!

Monkey D. Garp Was Captured By The Blackbeard Pirates

Fans will recall that Garp went to Hachinosu to save his student, Koby, after he was captured by Blackbeard’s crew. Blackbeard took Koby during the attack on Amazon Lily. Because Koby was part of the Marines’ SWORD unit, the Marines were responsible for rescuing him, but Garp couldn’t bear the thought of Koby being harmed and decided to intervene personally.

The Vice Admiral assembled a courageous team to infiltrate Blackbeard’s territory. Fortunately, Blackbeard and some of his crew were absent when the attack began, allowing the Vice Admiral to inflict significant damage. The escape would have been straightforward if Koby hadn’t made a mistake. Because of his inexperience, the Vice Admiral had to shield Koby from an attack, which dramatically changed the course of the battle. Realizing not everyone could escape, the Vice Admiral sacrificed himself to buy time for Koby and the other Marines to evacuate the island. Afterwards, there was widespread uncertainty about the Vice Admiral’s condition and whether he had survived.

Episode 1156 of One Piece revealed that Monkey D. Garp is still alive. Blackbeard’s pirates had captured him and were holding him until their captain returned. Although Blackbeard was annoyed that Koby and Moria got away, he was happy his crew successfully captured Garp.

Blackbeard originally intended to use Koby to negotiate for something he wanted, but that plan changed when Koby revealed he was part of the SWORD organization. Now that Garp is involved, Blackbeard has no more limitations and can use him to try and make a deal with the World Government.

The organization likely would have denied Blackbeard’s demand even if he’d offered Koby. However, they’re now in a difficult position. Garp is a Marine hero and a legend whose reputation spans the entire world. Abandoning one of their most celebrated soldiers would severely damage the World Government and Marines’ image and erode public trust.

Will Monkey D. Luffy Rescue Garp?

Currently, Garp is being held captive by Blackbeard’s crew, and very few people are aware of it. At first, only Koby and nearby Marines knew what happened. Now, the Marine leadership also knows Garp has been captured, causing widespread panic. However, surprisingly, they haven’t taken any steps to try and rescue him.

  • Luffy deeply cares for his family, and if he finds out Blackbeard has taken another relative captive, he’ll be furious and won’t hesitate to retaliate.

Luffy is determined to save his grandfather, especially after the painful loss of his brother, Ace, at the hands of Blackbeard. He won’t risk losing another family member if he can help it.

Koby is highly motivated to rescue his mentor, Garp, feeling a strong sense of obligation and not wanting Garp’s life to be lost because of him. While it will be a difficult task, Koby has a good amount of support within the Marines, who both trust him and greatly respect Garp, increasing the likelihood of them offering assistance.
