Swords are incredibly common among fighters throughout the entire One Piece world. From famous pirates and Marines to even the highest-ranking members of the World Government, skilled swordsmen appear at every level of power within the series.
Roronoa Zoro, a fan-favorite character in One Piece, has a big goal: to become the world’s greatest swordsman. He’s aided in this quest by Enma, a powerful and legendary sword. But Enma isn’t the only incredibly strong weapon out there, so let’s take a look at some even more formidable armaments.
Shusui Is The Only Great Grade Black Blade
Users: Shimotsuki Ryuma, Roronoa Zoro
- A legendary blade.
I’ve heard a lot about powerful weapons, but Shusui is interesting. It’s not quite a ‘Supreme Grade Blade’ like some others, but it’s close. It’s one of the famous 21 Great Grade Blades, and it used to belong to Shimotsuki Ryuma – a swordsman many consider the greatest who ever lived. Some even believe Ryuma was as strong as the legendary Joyboy himself.
Although Shusui and Enma are considered equally powerful, Shusui is actually stronger because it’s a Black Blade – one of only two in existence. Black Blades are special swords constantly coated with Haki, meaning the user doesn’t have to apply it themselves. This makes them much heavier and far more destructive than ordinary swords. A sword only becomes a Black Blade after years of consistent Haki infusion and intense swordsmanship training, which explains their rarity.
Yakuza Kasen Is The Latest Supreme Grade Blade To Be Revealed

While we saw Yakuza Kasen used quite a bit during the Dressrosa and Reverie arcs, its true power wasn’t confirmed until SBS 109. That’s when Eiichiro Oda officially stated it’s one of the twelve Supreme Grade Swords in One Piece. This makes it significantly more powerful than almost any other weapon, even Enma.
While Fujitora doesn’t fight exactly like a traditional swordsman, his skill with his Supreme Grade Blade is clear. He expertly combines it with the gravity powers he gained from his Devil Fruit.
Murakumogiri Is A Gigantic Blade With Incredible Strength
User: Edward ‘Whitebeard’ Newgate

Despite being known as one of the twelve strongest swords in One Piece, Murakumogiri is actually more like a glaive, or naginata. However, when it comes to raw power, it’s probably the most powerful weapon in the entire series. It’s incredibly well-made and enormous, meaning only someone with exceptional physical strength, like Whitebeard, can even lift it.
The most impressive display of Whitebeard’s strength happened during his battles with Roger. Their clashes generated massive waves of Conqueror’s Haki that stretched across entire islands. Furthermore, Whitebeard could combine his Devil Fruit ability with his weapon, Murakumogiri, to unleash devastating shockwaves, hinting at a unique quality of these legendary blades.
Ace Was The Sword Of The King Of The Pirates

Ace was the sword wielded by the legendary pirate Gol D. Roger, and it was known as one of the twelve highest-quality swords. Because of the battles between Roger and Whitebeard – particularly the one shown in the series – many believe Ace was as powerful as Murakumogiri, though this hasn’t been definitively proven.
Some fans speculate that Ace might have been a Black Blade, noticing its dark sheen during that fight, but this hasn’t been confirmed. What we do know is that Roger didn’t have a Devil Fruit, so he depended on his exceptional Haki skills when fighting Ace. This demonstrates that Haki isn’t just powerful, but also crucial for success.
The Shodai Kitetsu Is The Greatest Of The Kitetsu Lineage

- The blade of an Elder.
Throughout the world of One Piece, the Kitetsu swords are legendary for their incredible power, but they’re also known to be cursed, bringing misfortune to anyone who wields them. The most powerful of these swords, the Shodai Kitetsu, is heavily suggested to be the weapon used by the Elder, Nusjuro.
All of the Kitetsu swords are considered famous and powerful, so it’s no surprise the strongest one is exceptionally so. We saw this during the Egghead arc when Nusjuro easily sliced through multiple Pacifistas and even a huge Labophase building with just one swing of his blade.
Yoru Is Likely The Strongest Weapon In The Series

- The only Supreme Grade Black Blade.
A Black Blade is created when a swordsman consistently infuses a sword with Haki over many years, resulting in a weapon of immense power that doesn’t even need extra Haki to be effective. Yoru is not only a top-tier Supreme Grade Sword, but it’s also one of just two Black Blades known to exist.
Mihawk dedicated his life to becoming a master swordsman, allowing him to wield the incredibly powerful Black Blade – a weapon that stands out even among the most famous. When he finally fights at full strength, he’ll prove why he’s known as the world’s greatest swordsman.
