This article contains spoilers for One Piece’s Elbaf arc.
Summary
- Robin did not try to fight back against powerful enemies, upsetting fans.
- Fans are also upset at Jinbe being easily overpowered by a Holy Knight.
- Expectations of Robin and Jinbe to win are unrealistic due to the Holy Knights’ power levels.
The fanbase of the popular manga series “One Piece” is currently embroiled in a significant debate following the release of chapter 1146. While many found the latest installment to be impressive, it has sparked discussions about Nico Robin’s character, as she was unable to confront powerful adversaries to shield her friend, Jaguar D. Saul. Unfortunately, Robin isn’t the sole figure caught up in this week’s debate.
Some One Piece Fans Are Upset At Robin In The Newest Chapter
Robin Did Not Try to Fight Sommers
In the latest chapter 1146 of “One Piece,” there was an extraordinary revelation about the power of the Holy Knights, which has sparked a bit of debate within the “One Piece” community. Some fans appear to still be underestimating their strength.
In this chapter, it’s Sommers, one of Elbaf’s Holy Knights and user of the Thorn Devil Fruit, who becomes active. He engages in a fight and defeats Jaguar D. Saul, a longtime friend of Nico Robin since her childhood. Robin had recently reconnected with Saul after assuming he was dead for decades, following the Buster Call.
Rather than aiding Saul, Robin concealed herself within Chopper’s fur (or hair), which left many fans displeased. These viewers had anticipated Robin standing up for her friend in a more direct manner.
In all honesty, some fans may undervalue Sommers’ strength, but they’re in for a surprise! Sommers and the Holy Knights are leagues stronger than Yonko Commanders, and might even rival the Admirals in power. Given that Robin lacks Haki, it’s preposterous to expect her to take on anything head-on. With her being such a valuable asset due to her knowledge, she wisely chose to keep a low profile to avoid capture by the Holy Knights. After all, her intelligence makes her a prime target, and staying hidden was the safest bet for her.
Fans Are Also Upset At Other Straw Hat Pirates
Jinbe Was Easily Overpowered by Gunko
In this particular section, it’s not only Robin who stirred debate; readers were also dissatisfied because some of the Straw Hat Pirates weren’t strong enough to face opponents of a Holy Knight’s caliber.
In the very same chapter, another knight from the Holy Order, Gunko, takes on four members of the Straw Hat crew, and leaves them all in ruins. It’s Jinbe, a highly skilled fighter within the Straw Hat pirates, who ranks just below the Monster Trio, that has fans particularly distressed. Despite his formidable abilities, Jinbe was surprisingly handled effortlessly by Gunko.
It’s important to note that Jinbe isn’t weak or ineffective; it’s merely that the Holy Knights are exceptionally powerful at this moment. Currently, they possess an ability to regenerate indefinitely. Even Luffy, with his current understanding of Haki, wouldn’t be able to defeat them. Therefore, expressing frustration towards Jinbe under these circumstances seems unreasonable.
