As a dedicated One Piece fan, I’ve long pondered about the immense power wielded by Monkey D. Garp. At last, my curiosity has been quenched! The recent episode of the captivating One Piece anime has unveiled the answer to this lingering question. In this latest installment, we see our esteemed character, Monkey D. Garp, embarking on a mission to Hachinosu to rescue his protege, Koby, from the iron grip of the Blackbeard Pirates. Seemingly, Yonko had abducted Koby with the intention of using him as a strategic pawn.

Blackbeard aspired to transform Hachinosu into a nation aligned with the World Government, an ambitious goal that usually wouldn’t attract their attention due to his pirate status. However, being the Hero, Koby made it necessary for the World Government to take action. Despite his association with SWORD, the Marines and the World Government could simply ignore him as he was captured by pirates. This meant no official rescue attempt would be made. Only volunteers were allowed to intervene. Fortunately, Garp, Blackbeard’s mentor, was willing to assist Koby. He gathered some young Marines from the G-14 base and set off for Hachinosu.

Garp Shows What He Is Truly Capable Of

Approaching Hachinosu with the Marines, I found myself readying our strategic offensive. Prince Grus, Hibari, and Kujaku skillfully cornered the pirates, paving a path for my ultimate assault. Once assured all was in place, I sent my ship soaring aloft. In mid-air, I channeled my Conqueror’s Haki and Armament Haki, unleashing a devastating Galaxy Impact. Upon impact, the entire town crumbled beneath its force. Pirates and Marines alike stood speechless at the raw power on display. Remarkably, I boasted that I could do even better – an audacious claim indeed.

Revisiting Episode 1114, it’s hard not to acknowledge the breathtaking animation work by Toei. The blend of Haki and the sprinkling of stars in the backdrop made for a visually stunning sequence. While the scene was captivating in the manga, the anime elevated it significantly. Upon witnessing Garp’s attack, a flurry of questions arise, such as what might have transpired if Sengoku hadn’t intervened at Marineford.

How Garp vs. Akainu Could Have Affected The Story

Back then, viewers were left pondering about what might have transpired had Garp not been restrained. Now, after observing the Vice Admiral’s prowess, it seems that Sengoku acted wisely in stopping him.

Akainu wouldn’t just be reduced to dust; such an event would throw the Marines into chaos, giving pirates the advantage. This could have led to Marineford’s downfall. Given Garp’s current power, it’s easy to speculate what Vice Admiral Akainu could have accomplished at his peak.

At the peak of his powers, Garp matched up against Gol D. Roger, the infamous Pirate King. He was the unique Marine who managed to corner Roger and almost took his life. Interestingly, Roger admired this boldness and considered Garp more like a friend than an adversary. Apart from his encounters with Roger, Garp also played a pivotal role in the God Valley incident. This involvement earned him the title of the Marine’s Hero.

Instead of many powerful characters in One Piece, Garp lacks the ability of a Devil Fruit. He primarily uses Haki and his raw physical strength for his tasks. In his youth, Garp trained by smashing mountains with his fists and striking the bow of a Marine ship. This intense training significantly boosted his physical prowess and Haki to such an extent that he didn’t need a Devil Fruit. Although details about most of his past achievements are scarce, fans are aware that he managed to defeat a pirate with a 500 million Beri bounty using just one punch.

In the closing moments of One Piece Episode 1114, I found myself witnessing a fascinating turn of events as Kuzan, the ex-Admiral, employed his formidable powers to freeze Hibari. Given his allegiance with the Blackbeard Pirates, it’s clear that he’s been entrusted with safeguarding Hachinosu until their Yonko makes a reappearance.

Beyond his Haki abilities, Kuzan, also known as Aokiji, holds the Hie Hie no Mi, a Devil Fruit of the Logia class that grants him the power to freeze anything. When someone is frozen, they become utterly defenseless and are under Kuzan’s control. To add intrigue, Kuzan was trained by Monkey D. Garp, setting up a clash between mentor and student. In a one-on-one encounter, it’s predicted that Garp would emerge victorious. However, if the Blackbeard Pirates intervene in the fight, Aokiji will come out on top.
